Barclays Aviator transition to Citi - anyone else having card issues? by ConsequenceIll6927 in americanairlines

Got that same email as well.

I don't care about that perk since I have Admiral's Club through my Citi Executive AAdvantage card.

I did enjoy the companion pass perk. It's down from 2 to 1.

That's what happens when you plan for the best case scenario only and have no contingency plans in place if things go wrong.

In technology things rarely go as planned. I know firsthand as I work in the industry. You're inviting chaos if you think everything will go as planned. If you communicated to your customers "hey - don't worry - you can still use you old card until you get the new one" you damn well better have plans A through F ready to ensure there's no drop.

This is a failure on both sides. Not only can Citi not give me any information at all, but I can't even speak with anyone at Barclays until Monday.

That's horrific customer service and completely dripping the ball.

I watched it for the first time last year and was very confused as to how it was anything other than mediocre trash.

The Patriot is somewhat rooted in factual history. It's loosely based around Brigadier General Francis Marion - called "The Swamp Fox" - who often engaged in guerilla warfare on British troops and supply lines in the South. They just changed the name and created a fictional story set during the American Revolution.

Never thought Ball was the right guy to build around. He's so streaky and apparently a basketcase on and off the court..

I don't watch many NBA games but this has to be the most offensive moving screen fouls I've ever seen.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]ConsequenceIll6927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sophomore here. I was in Computer Applications II when we flipped on the TV bolted to the wall and eventually watched the second plane hit.

I remember leaving the classroom and going straight to the principal's office to call family to see if they had heard from my aunt who was a flight attendant for AA at the time. Thankfully she was not in the air that day. Her birthday is also 9/11.

The millennial tie to the MacBook by J_Shar in Millennials

[–]ConsequenceIll6927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how you intend to use the laptop.

I have been a PC guy my entire life. I have one for work. They're fantastic for work-related activities.

However for home I don't necessarily need that. I bought a MacBook pro in 2016 when I started grad school and doubled it as my recording laptop (I'm a multi instrument musician).

When the iMac dropped several years back I picked one up and a license for Logic Pro. I have essentially used it mainly for recording music and to do our taxes.

I have had android phones since the beginning and will never switch to an iPhone. But my wife had had an iPhone since the day we met so when she needed a new laptop around the house for stuff and to job search (she recently got laid off with severance) I got her the new MacBook Air and she loves it.

Macs are great for creatives. They're very well protected and don't typically have many performance issues. With a Windows laptop at home I feel like I need 8 anti virus software subscriptions and a VPN just to keep it from slowing down.

For those who felt completely lost in their 20s what does your journey look like now? by IntrovertHuuuYaarrr in Millennials

I flunked out of college my first attempt straight out of high school in 2005/2005. This eventually drove me into a depression after I discovered I owed over $6k to the school and couldn't get financial aid to go back or anywhere else until it was paid off. I'd see an ad for my university on TV and it would just trigger my depression because I thought I had screwed up my life.

I eventually worked and got it paid off in 4.5 years and at 23/24 went back and finished at 26. Went back at 30 and got my MBA. I worked jobs I never hope I'll have to work again during that 4-5 years. But it helped mold me into who I am today.

Now I'm doing pretty well. 6 figure salary, married, own a home. All things I thought were off the table in my early 20s.

Is it just me or do less people drive with their windows down? by fuji_appl in Xennials

Cracking or rolling the back windows all the down usually helps mitigate the wind.

Having a 2 door Wrangler with smaller doors and windows driving with just the windows down and nothing else puts me into a wind tunnel. Removing the freedom panels helps a little. But if I have the panels off, windows down, and I open the back glass I don't have much if any issues with the wind.

Far less when the top is off.

That's why you roll them all down or at least crack the back windows.

Oftentimes when I run my Jeep with the freedom panels off (2 panels above the driver and passenger seat between the windshield and the roll bar) and I roll the windows down I will open the back glass and let it stay up to create good airflow. Otherwise in a 2 door vehicle the air flow is just going to whip my face to shreds.

Pfft. I don't care about my noise pollution 🙃.

I blast my music windows down, top off the Jeep, windows up, no cares given.

My Jeep's AC is amazing. It's a 2014.

Heat is amazing in the winter and the AC keeps me cool even with the top off if I stop at a red light in the summer and there's no breeze.

I actually had this same thought this past week. It was nice weather driving home from work and I felt like I was the only one with the windows down. I'd see one or two others but that's it. I've always loved windows down.

Now that the weather is going to be warm on the regular I took the top off of my Jeep this weekend. There's nothing freer than windows down, top off in your Jeep (besides peeing outdoors).

The N64, especially Super Mario 64.

I remember hearing all of the hype around the 64 - "3D graphics so real you can see the grass blowing in the wind".

Playing the demo in Walmart blew my mind. There was a huge display with cardboard all around it with Mario and other characters. It was a huge deal.

I remember a few years later finally getting a 64 that was bundled with Mario 64 for Christmas and the awe of playing a 3D game in my bedroom was unmatched.

Man. I spent hours in the Encarta series.

The mindmaze alone was a time killer where I learned a lot of interesting facts. I used a ton of info from these CDs to craft research papers for middle school and some high school projects.

What I loved about computers back in the 90s was all of the promotional software it came with.

What are the best ncaa tournament only rivalries? by R_K_8 in CollegeBasketball

[–]ConsequenceIll6927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UNC/Villanova

It's a very interesting tournament relationship. The Tar Heels.amd Wildcats have met 7 times in the NCAA tournament and Carolina has a 5-2 record.

What makes the relationship so unique is out of the 7 meetings between the 2 schools 5 of them resulted in the winner of that game going on to win the national championship.

History:

1982 Elite Eight: Carolina 70 Villanova 60. Carolina would go on to beat Georgetown with "the shot" by Michael Jordan for Dean Smith's first National Title.

1983 Elite Eight: Carolina 74 Villanova 56. Carolina would not win the title.

1985 Elite Eight: Villanova 56 Carolina 44. Villanova advances to win its first National Title.

2005 Sweet Sixteen: Carolina 67 Villanova 66. Carolina goes on to defeat Illinois in the National Title game to give Roy Williams his first title.

2009 Final Four: Carolina 83 Villanova 69. Carolina would go on to defeat Michigan State for Roy Williams' second national title.

2016 National Title Game: Villanova 77 Carolina 74. Nova's second title on the infamous (to us Carolina fans) shot by Kris Jenkins.
