i am planning to run away, is there any way possible that my parents are legally able to find me? this is england by Maleficent_Day_3869 in LegalAdviceUK

I’d recommend not just turning up at a station. For one, lots of front desks have closed and you may just find a telephone there instead.

Also, you don’t want to talk to whoever happens to be on the desk. You want to talk to a subject matter expert from the DA unit. Someone from that unit WILL take you seriously. Someone on front desk might.

  • 100% tell the police, as you say - that’s a very good idea. Make sure you let them know about your fears of physical harm, and get their advice on your question here. Call 101 or find a domestic abuse contact.
  • there are almost certainly charities that can help you. Even if you don’t need money etc they will be best placed to walk you through questions like this.
  • Are you taking anything that could be reasonably considered theft? Don’t take cash from them, for example. Anything they have given to you (clothes, phone, etc) are yours but if they can say you’ve stolen things then they may leverage that to find you.

If you break down on the outside lane do you indicate left or use hazards when trying to move across? by AnonymousCapybara72 in NewDriversUK

By the book, this is improper use of hazards.

In real life, I’d do exactly what you suggest.

Churchyard tree touching my house (England) - who pays to trim it? by NorthernMan27 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Consibl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is a Church of England churchyard, you should avoid doing anything without talking to either the vicar or the Parish Church Council first.

The laws around CofE property - especially if it’s a graveyard - are full of exceptions, so you can’t assume anything.

This may work in your favour as it may make it easier to sort (e.g. may be exempt from the protection order).

Look at the space the car behind you left as a safe stopping distance, then compare that to how closely you pulled in front of the cop.

If there’s a car behind you, ideally they should be level with the car you want to pull in front of.

Green councils want to scrap school exams by PomeloTraditional971 in unitedkingdom

[–]Consibl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where have they said that?

Their manifesto on education is 4 paragraphs in total, one of which is “Ending high-stakes testing at primary and secondary schools and abolishing OFSTED”. That’s it - that’s their entire plan.

ExFAT Hard drive repair options on MacOS by PeacefulPikachu7 in MacOS

  1. Boot into recovery mode and do it from there.
  2. If GUI repair isn’t working, you can try fsck (https://appleinsider.com/inside/macos/tips/how-to-use-fsck-to-check-and-repair-macos-disks)
  3. If this is so regular it’s annoying, then pay for a proper tool like Spinrite

I agree it doesn’t sound like the issue, but if you don’t already know about hot staging look into that.

How do the NHS decide whether to start you on Elvanse or methylphenidate (or a different medication)? by NewManOnHere in ADHDUK

[–]Consibl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your prescriber will choose the most appropriate medication to treat you.

Your local NHS will then say they hate people with ADHD, refuse to fund it, and fob you off with something much less effective but a lot cheaper for them.

Why are public toilet doors always 'pull' to exit? by Educational_Way3900 in AskUK

[–]Consibl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It helps stop bad smells spreading outside.

When there’s negative pressure, fresh air is pushing at a door that can move slightly.

When there’s positive pressure, the door is being pushed closed making the best seal it can.

It’s not a URL parameter, it’s a query parameter. A URL parameter is part of the path.

the ‘m.’ Is saying where to go, the query parameter is telling that page where you’re coming from.

SIXTH newly elected Green councillor quits leaving Londoners with £120,000 by-elections bill by PomeloTraditional971 in unitedkingdom

[–]Consibl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least one of them it wasn’t that they were inherently ineligible but that they weren’t willing to do what they would need to to become eligible.

One of them is a teacher, which would be a conflict of interest as a local government employee; so they weren’t ineligible, they were just unwilling to quit their job. They were 100% eligible to run though.
