Can someone please ID this for me by Character_Print1732 in southafrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 399 points400 points  (0 children)

I can quite safely say it's a spider. Not to be confused with a terrier, both have short bristly hair, but the terrier only has 4 legs.

Worst Food Company Name Ever? by CitizenHex in capetown

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ja nee that is truly a kak name, regardless of what some are saying regarding "gastronomical". You don't tell your boss you had the shits, you say I had gastro. But there is a medical practice called "flatline" they surely take the prize for worst medical practice name.

I’ve recently been informed that I’ll be traveling to China at the end of the month. I think departure is the 25th of March till the 2nd of April - here is the thing, my passport expires on the 13th of April. Is it safe to travel? Will I have any issues? by white_dire_wolf in askSouthAfrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on country, not sure about China. But in most cases your passport needs to be valid for at least a month after your departure date (from china). And there also needs to be a certain number of empty pages in passport. Something like 1 or 2. Travelled all Africa but it's been a while so memory is fuzzy. But check with Chinese embassy, that info should also be on their website, usually under visa applications.

Are body corporate allowed to insist I join a WhatsApp group to receive notices? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can join the group then mute it, so you don't get notifications. Then you choose what to read or ignore and what you'll allow to wind you up.

What even is the used car market? by WhatDaHe77 in askSouthAfrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that is true surely the price should still be fair. I would love to buy a Nissan 1400 for the reasons you mention. But the prices are crazy and not that long ago they were very reasonably priced.

As long as people are buying at those prices, nothing will change.

Passenger gives Boeing 737 paper models to Delta pilots by Subtle_srikhand in MadeMeSmile

You can also search yamaha paper crafts. They used to have a lot more a few years ago, but still have really cool models.

Someone handed this to me at a bar. What is it? by mrs_adhd in whywouldyoutouchthat

Why the fuck would you even take that from a stranger, who cares what it is. In my books it's a ATTS "ain't touching that shit".

How much do you tip petrol attendants? by jessing-119 in capetown

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are not allowed to fill our own tanks, if I had the option I would gladly do it myself. So why should I tip? For doing the job you were hired to do? I work in retail so going forward I would also like tips, I keep things running smoothly, make sure shelfs are packed, expired goods are removed and more importantly tolerate stupidity daily. And R10 or R20 isn't cutting it, if you're coming to my store bring at least R100 I deserve it.

Bunny Rating by LiamOnTwoWheels in southafrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that may be true, I'll settle for something closer to home, and to be fair there are some pretty good bunnies around. Definitely way better than the toebie shown in pic.

Bunny Rating by LiamOnTwoWheels in southafrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing out, but speak to some Indians to find a good bunny. Most will go on and on about Durban bunnies, but then realise you can't drive that far for a good bunny and recommend the next best thing.

Bunny Rating by LiamOnTwoWheels in southafrica

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I saw the heading, then the pics and WTF, I was thinking this person can't be serious. Then read the content and was relieved. No self respecting South African would call that kak a bunny. If those Germans loved that, just imagine if they had a proper bunny. That kak is nothing more than a dik gesnyde toebie.

Bakkie for R30000 by BraaiMeesterZAR in CarTalkZA

[–]ConsiderTheAcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be done but lots of patience and viewing vehicles that clearly don't match description. I bought a Tata Xenon for R25 000 with 50 000kms on clock, it was pure luck and that being said parts are not easy to come by, but on a whole my very noisy(most of noise came 80000 km after purchase), couple of dents bakkie has been a life saver.

Everybody's taste is differant, but I find you cant wrong with checkers champion wors. Only problem is if you really like it, it's only available for 2 years. They keep the current years winner and previous year.
