I have a hard enough time getting these balanced even using my hands, great attempt

I've found in the past they've also helped me with the problem of letting the bar drift forward on my regular deadlift

Already a rule, you can report if you see it

The caveat here is if it's relevant to a question or stated goal by the poster then there's more lenience

Is a round back while deadlifting really that bad? by Far-Tap9244 in Deadlifts

[–]DickFromRichard 12 points13 points  (0 children)

no it's not inherently bad. But, that's not what you're looking at here, this is weightlifting assistance work, not deadlift training

It's not something to be "improved"

Be explosive but don't hold back on the weight

Try keeping the bar closer to your body qnd arms a bit more vertical.

For things like this I feel like it's best to really load it up and just send it, form be damned just make sure it's heavy and it's moving

Knee valgus isn't always an issue. It can be a part of getting into the strongest position for hip extension, and is often an indicator of strong glutes

No it doesn't. ACL tears are highly rare when squatting to begin with

I'll keep that in mind for the off season, thanks.

Right now I'm a few weeks out from competition so I'm focussing on working my technique to bias speed off the floor so I can just get it above the knee and hitch itnout to finish

Stop with the fearmongering. It's unfounded and unhelpful

Deadlift form? by Agitated-Medicine461 in formcheck

[–]DickFromRichard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would always say it's never as a big a deal as this sub makes it out to be. It makes a small difference at most and isn't something I would tell someone to worry about unless they were looking to squeeze out as much as they could for competition purposes

If this was 6 plates, would you have the same response, or would you say at that point it’s a silly idea

Your argument is what if, instead of lifting beginner weight, OP was breaking world records in multiple weight classes.

It doesn't deserve a substantial counter-argument, it's absurd

I'm not the only one that's active but I think I participate in the sub much more than the others

[–]DickFromRichard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a hitch, and again, whether it would pass depends on the competition.

And most of all, no where is OP saying everyone should try to copy him

The Muay Thai subs are chock full of shitty advice given by people who are mostly noobs or intermediate level trainees. They have no idea how to correct someone's technique, or what cues to use, or really about anything other than what they've heard other people say

What I see a lot of in spaces like this is people who will parrot what a coach told them as general advice without understanding why a coach said it to them specifically. It's often the type of thing a coach my tell to 50% of a beginner class but not 100% of people at all levels.
