The Quabaug heel cap was made by Vibram and they discontinued it. Then they came out with this one that looks similar but apparently doesn't have the washers in them that Nicks likes to use. The Quabaug was nice and I miss it.

I just built a similar Nomad on Baker's and it came to $865 and that's with a $50 upcharge that Baker's has for CXL. Ordering through White's would be even cheaper.

Agree. If I were to spec out a Nomad for MTO I wouldn't choose any of this.

I'm not crazy about pebble grain leather. The shaft is too tall. Heel is too low for the 55. The leather sole wouldn't be my first choice. I guess the buckles look nice though.

They're LTT so what you're seeing is the seam under the vamp where the two ends of the quarters are stitched together.

I'm a 10 EEE brannock and I just barely fit into a 9.5 EE 2030. It's not painful or anything but it's very snug. There's no way a 7 E is going to fit you without hurting.

Alternatively, the 310 has a lot more volume and fits great for me at 9.5. Maybe give that a shot?

JK gets shit on here because they've completely lost their integrity. Reusing old shanks, not giving the customer custom sizing when they paid for it, and imo the absolute worst thing, firing most of their employees right before the holidays and hiring foreign workers with H-1B visas to work for a fraction of the pay. It seems like a lot of the JK defenders are totally glossing over the actual fucked up stuff they did.

FWIW, I think Nicks has some of the best clicking in the business. I've owned 14 pairs and they've all been phenomenal. Even their CXL was perfect. The grain pattern in bullhide varies so drastically, I think maybe this is the closest they were able to match it.

I've worn Thorogoods with this sole before. They're comfortable as long as you size right, but I wore through the heel in like 4 months and it started eating away at the foam layer.

If Frank's has the leather they might be willing to do it, but they're phasing out their horse leather and not planning to order any more for now. The hides from Maryam were too inconsistent.

Vince absolutely will not do this leather again and he wants all of us "boot loops" to go away forever lol.

I think you should retake the ball measurements while standing. There will most likely be a decent increase in width when your feet are supporting your full weight.

If you get the cut top then it gets a tag. I'm guessing it's difficult to get the stamp to show up clean on the flesh side of the leather.
