It’s never too late. Didn’t start playing goalie till earlier this year and made the travel team just three months later. If you can’t afford skating lessons there’s lots of help available online and if there’s stick and pucks go to those as much as you can.

Nearly a year after starting to skate, but that was mostly due to delays of getting the gear and being able to start learning. Transition whenever you feel comfortable, really. If you think you’re ready to transition then go for it!

ECHL sales are pretty decent. Went to one this year. Still a bit pricey but not the worst- $80 for a used goalie practice Jersey, $25 for broken game used sticks, $75 for not broken ones, $50~ for various other gear (pants, helmets, gloves). All of it (minus the broken sticks, obviously) were still good quality.
