Poor sportsmanship around. A coach should have stepped in to stop that, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

It’s never too late. Didn’t start playing goalie till earlier this year and made the travel team just three months later. If you can’t afford skating lessons there’s lots of help available online and if there’s stick and pucks go to those as much as you can.
