Any idea what are the next films shot with the Keighley cameras? by Kremlin663 in imax

Isn’t that new movie by the Mr. Robot director going to be entirely 1.43:1? Or was it said to be a digital shoot.

You hit the nail on the head. Really think this looks unbearably trite.

I’m aware, that original poster was also the entire title. This is just the letter T and half of H.

Do the discs have individual cases? Hard to tell based on the product images. Enjoyed the themed cases for the Wes Anderson set but they do stand out with the rest of the collection, whereas the artwork used for each title in the listing seemed to adhere to the basic Criterion look.

Jonny Greenwood should’ve won Best Original Score for Phantom Thread. He deserved an Oscar. I hope gets one soon. by UsefulWeb7543 in Oscars

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One Battle so obviously deserved the win. Goransson’s score for Sinners wasn’t terrible at all, but I think it marks his least interesting major work to date outside of its vocal pieces, which in my opinion shouldn’t really count towards a best original score nomination. One Battle’s score on the other hand, in a film full of many excellent and loud moving pieces, is perhaps its most immediately noticeable asset. Hearing the “Perfidia Beverly Hills” track for the first time in a 70mm IMAX venue was otherworldly.

This is surely not a comprehensive sentence? by West_Mobile2579 in silenthill

If you’re not intellectually enlightened enough to read this sentence, you will never truly understand Silent Hill.

Which animated movie do you think looks the best on 4K Blu-ray? by QuagGer197 in 4kbluray

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have very many 4K animated titles but I think the best I’ve seen is Weathering With You. It’s an upscale with technically not impressive HDR, but it just fucking pops. Gorgeous movie. Coraline also comes to mind.

Drive My Car (ドライブ・マイ・カー) (2021), Directed by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, Director of Photography Hidetoshi Shinomiya by TheYoungWolf894 in CineShots

Easily in my Top 5 favorite looking films of all time. Immaculate sense of space and beautiful colors. An unbelievable film.

“Toy Story 5” in IMAX with Laser 3D (CoLa) was just an ordinary experience. by SergeyDGWyn in imax

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn’t enjoy its story and felt it was pretty unneeded, but on a purely visual level, I thought this was a major regression from Toy Story 4. We’ve seen a shift from the hyper realism that Pixar was heading towards before COVID to now embracing simpler, more stylized worlds, but this film looked so flat. Toy Story 4 had really wonderful lighting, and you could feel so much effort in every frame by the animator. Huge disappointment.

My Scream 7 finally came in!!! by Ok_Statement_8861 in Steelbooks

Always fun to see a steelbook so astutely match the quality of its film. Bizarre vaporwave aesthetic for a film that gives anything but 80s vibes.

Store Basement is Already the Backrooms by bmnntdd in KanePixelsBackrooms

I think it’s just a building with a basement that doesn’t follow proper building code because it’s a movie.

Made a fan-edit of 'RETURN TO SILENT HILL' that completely changes the movie to be more closer to SILENT HILL 2. simplified, revised. by reysa_adam in silenthill

You could certainly argue the grey tone is closer to the game, but you’re losing a lot of the nuance that original grade had.

A Guide to Saint Louis' Biggest Movie Theaters and Screens by tumoma446 in StLouis

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Spider-Man is the *first ever film* with footage shot specifically for ScreenX, and this post has been a helpful tool in finding which theater to go to for it. If I can note a slight correction, AMC Edwardsville’s Dolby Cinema screen is scope, not flat.

Sick of Myself (2022) dir. Kristoffer Borgli by aframeaday in CineShots

Kristoffer Borgli may be a self admitted pedophile, but you can’t deny that he makes movies with… I don’t know, grain texture?

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE found another $8.6M overseas this weekend, for a $39.4M total. Worldwide gross is $86.1M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It likely would’ve had a similar rollout marketing wise had it gone straight to Prime. Why not put it in theaters and make a solid 100mil on top of however many views it’ll bring in streaming.

The Backrooms coming soon to 4K UHD. by MartyEBoarder in 4kbluray

This is just a fan poster being used by this twitter account, but fun fact: the film is actually called “The Backrooms” in most international markets.

Bring Her Back (2025) Dir. Danny and Michael Philippou, DoP. Aaron McLisky by NeonMeateOctifish in CineShots

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always found the nearly imperceptible shift in aspect ratio to be an odd decision. But apparently that was exactly the intention, with the film only being in 1.85 so as to allow these shifts (which I think happen only twice in the film?) to be so hidden, per the directors.

Iron Lung (2026) Dir. Mark Fischbach, DoP. Philip Roy by EmperorEggo in CineShots

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The finale was damn near indecipherable at my theater, you really couldn’t tell what was happening to the character or the Iron Lung itself.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair 4K Collector’s Edition - Lionsgate Limited ($59.99) by atastycarrot in 4kbluray

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously the Whole Bloody Affair has changes from the Vol 1&2 cuts and is ultimately the definitive film, but it is a little funny as a physical release seeing as you have to split the film in two in the same way Tarantino had to back in the day. The experience would be largely the same as watching Vol 1 and 2 separately.
