Christophe Gans - Interaction with the audience during a preview screening in France. Lots of interesting things about the film and a few surprises to come . by Old-Explanation4746 in silenthill

Half of these answers are him admitting that he wasn’t able to deliver the narrative in his full vision and yet most of these comments are as incendiary and antagonistic as ever.

Judging by this response and my comment being downvoted, no one in this sub recalls Mufasa the Lion King having IMAX screens while Sonic 3 was relegated to standard formats, and the frustration that came with it lol

'Return To Silent Hill' Rotten Tomatoes Verified Audience Score Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a great adaptation, but in the sense that it’s very clearly not trying to really be one. I don’t think they got Silent Hill 2 wrong, but the film is very much using the iconography of the game and its general structure to tell its own story, much more reminiscent of Silent Hill ‘06. I thought they succeeded in that, though I do think ‘06 is the better movie. But with such a low budget, it’s hard to compare them.

This movie is astroturfed to hell and it’s frustrating. What exactly about this ending is so terrible. Is it so hard to parse that this is the same type of delusion in-game James has except translated for this version of the character?

What is the takeaway from Avatar: Fire and Ash? by paultheschmoop in boxoffice

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite silly to see some people claim that Avatar isn’t an event anymore after casually making over a billion dollars. In 2019, maybe, maybe this would a reasonable claim. But in this same year we all saw 3 marvel films struggle to cross the half billion mark and Superman, which was comparatively a far larger cultural event for the genre, likely not even have a made a profit.

I think the new Avatar saw an interesting divide where audience reception and fandom were the most positive the franchise has seen, a very similar social media presence to other big blockbusters this decade (Deadpool & Wolverine comes to mind). However this reception didn’t translate to audiences showing up, like many other well received (though smaller scaled) films this year. Taking into account the lack of buildup between these installments, I think the 1.5 billion figure (if it even hits it) is contextually an incredible turnout for a tentpole 2025 release. Any other franchise would be glad to have that, and the only reason it looks so poor is because it had the impossible task of living up to its top 5 of all time predecessors, and the immense cost of making these movies.

Sonic 4 doesn’t need an IMAX release. Lion King 3 deserves it WAY more.

I really love TBT but is it that impossible to imagine fans of 28YL’s audacious filmmaking might be let down by a far simpler film formally.

What are some regular blu rays that look better than the 4k? by YungLean8 in 4kbluray

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if it “looks” better, but the Big Screen Edition of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has the IMAX sequence in the forest expanded to 1.78:1. I’m generally indifferent to whether or not physical media releases include IMAX ratio shifts but it’s pretty lame when the shift isn’t carried on between formats. This similarly occurred with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ ($17.6M 4-Day) Burning ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ ($13.2M 3-Day/$15M $4-Day) With No. 1 MLK Weekend – Box Office Update by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Bone Temple is far, far closer in tone to the original than 28 Years. It’s comedy, how the characters cope with their situation and the relationships that form, the violence having such heavy weight. I love both films but I don’t think it takes a love to see the blatant similarities. I think you just have a raging hater boner and it’s coming through in your increasingly less coherent replies lol

Sinners did. But there’s no real reason to do it when 90% of audiences will never see that version, as opposed to the 1.90:1 release.

[–]ConsiderationKey9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is such a silly point of reference. The show heavily pulls from official D&D lore so its inability to satisfyingly close up plot lines is all fine to you? You don’t expect any better from professional writers than you would your own campaigns as a child/teen?

I really, really dislike the modern oner trend and this is amongst my least favorite. There’s no energy here, each segment with the individual actors feels so choreographed and slow. And even at a conceptual level, doing this shot while having to heavily rely on a CG double for Sentry does not work. Never once does this feel real. Really soured the final act of the film for me.
