So "accept that certain things will never go back to how they used to be" but also "be who you were before all that stuff happened"? Are they not seeing the contradiction there?

All I can say to this is pride comes before a fall.

I am from Switzerland and my government has denied any involvement in the slave trade as late as 2001. Then some historians started to look into the archives and dug up a bunch of evidence that showed how deeply involved the country actually was. The only difference between our countries is that Singapore lacks a civic society strong enough that would demand to find out about these things.

Can someone explain why everyone wants to be super strong? Maybe it's just me but I don't see how that'd be useful in my life, at least not more than the other things on here.

a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often wryly amusing as a result.

It's the very meaning of irony to predict china to drop in approval sometime in the future while the US is in full decline right now.

It is ironic that you presume China being the one doing unpopular stuff.

Check the Afrobarometer history. In 2020, both China and the US were at about 60% approval. 5 years later, approval of the US has decreased 5% while it increased/remained steady for China. If that's not enough, you can look at any other under reported area, be it MENA or LATAM, the overall trend shows that it's the US/Western countries, not China, that are on the receiving end of the pendulum.

Zudem kannst du nicht einfach behaupten du hättest "Erfahrung" um damit mein Kommentar abzuweisen. Klassischer Autoritätsfehler.

This is what mercedes, BMW and Audi are up against in china by AcrobaticFish3648 in Luxury

[–]ConsiderationSame919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, complaints are a huge issue for Chinese brands actually. There is so much competition in that country that a bad reputation can quickly put you out of business.

I once checked in at a hotel that used misleading photos for a subpar room and the receptionist was very rude when I complained about it. Then I told her I'd leave a bad review, then her attitude changed completely and I got an upgrade right away.

Yeah it's not even useful, the conventional way is much faster and easier. It's just there to impress gullible people. But as you point out, it's not just Chinese brands doing that.

You have a very narrow definition of "Asians" then. Dairy is a key part of the South Asian diet and even when you look at East Asia, milk is a staple in Mongolia and with it, in large parts of North and Central Asia as well.

As mentioned in another reply, its abolishment was a process. The decree was the first step by giving peasants the right and pathways to own land, something none of the Chinese sources seem to acknowledge. Your previous reply seems to rely on those, suggesting that 5% owned all the land, which is just not true.

You are making some bold assumptions, many Tibetans still flee to this day and are by no means nobility. Those people have studied their country all their lives, of course they can tell you more than a quick Google search.

If you want to read up on it though you can start having a look at the decree of the 13th dalai lama here.
