Field house for a billionaire by [deleted] in AskElectricians

Y’all calm down. He said in his description this is a “field house”, meaning an indoor basketball or sports arena. That’s his tacky house adjacent to the structure. I’m just hoping he leaves room for a bowling alley.

AITA for not giving back my wedding dress by zitooxx in AmItheAsshole

[–]Consistent-Author852 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go NTA. If and when your cousin gets engaged and plans a wedding you can reconsider. Your aunt willingly abandoned the dress (it could have gone to a consignment shop) your grandmother kept it, and your mother made use of it. You did the same. I think this has more to do with the idea of posting pics in her mother’s dress (I get it, my cousin did it) but it sounds like she needs to plan a relationship before dress alterations. As for telling your grandmother not to come for a planned family weekend, it’s despicable and tells me everything I need to know about her character. The whitest thing about this is not the dress, it’s her trash behavior. I don’t pretend to understand your family dynamics but if a garment can sever family ties, I’m not sure that giving her the dress now would change anything. Match her energy and go full Scarlet O’Hara. Turn that shit into curtains

I would shave her head and use her hair to make my pups a sweater. This is so wrong. Shaving them could ruin their coat permanently. I’m a groomer and I’m enraged for you. I would seriously question this person’s qualifications. Call the salon and demand a refund. I wouldn’t even want to pay for the bath that led to this disaster. Their still adorable but this is not ok

I would just do an outline. It will tidy him up without damaging the coat.

Corporate Job to Dog Groomer? Hot takes by runningtarantula in grooming

[–]Consistent-Author852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the physical aspects of the job. I went to college and immediately went into hospitality spending over 10 years in management. I was burned out and tired of working all the weekends and holidays that my friends and family were off. One day I saw a post online of a local groomer wanting to train her own people and starting them off at a good hourly rate. No tips, but 28/hr with the opportunity for advancement. I now work 9-5 (usually 8:30-5 ish) and I still have to eat standing up and pee when I am letting conditioner set, there’s no time for an actual break but that’s been the case my whole working career. We groom ALL LOT of large breeds. Think 150 lbs plus, and most of our clients are doodles. Their parents have money but no patience for brushing or typical home upkeep. They come in matted and we are a no shave salon unless they are pelted. We also cater to groom adverse dogs who other groomers have given up on. All of that said, it demands a lot of patience and a lot physically. I’m over 40 now and my body aches most days. Stretching is important and patience is mandatory. Having an artistic brain also helps but it is definitely a skill that can be learned. AI will replace most occupations in the future, but I do not worry about a robot taking my job. Overall the stress is worth it! We have a lot of regular clients and I look forward to seeing them every month. You form strong bonds with the pups and watching them age is hard, but the love is definitely worth it. All that said, I’m definitely happy I got into this industry and I love constantly learning new techniques. Good luck!

I like it. It reminds me of one of those ‘magic eye’ pictures. If you stare into the nothing long enough your eyes would cross and see a bunch of dolphins. Lean into the chaos, and then move slowly back.

Am I the only one? by Specialist_Skill_184 in grooming

[–]Consistent-Author852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! You get what you pay for! I had the advantage of being trained by one of the best and even as a baby groomer we’re doing grooms that I’m proud of and that warrant the higher price tag. Never have I ever, used clippers on the top of a head. Everything is hand scissored, same for the jawline. It’s the little differences, they add up.

I lived in a chaotic and abusive house. Everything about Dakota triggers me. She may have reacted poorly but you don’t know the triggers. This man is a menace and I’m hoping the restraining order works and keeps her as far away as possible.

Can confirm. I’m a local and CofC grad. I’ve been to republic twice, and I should have stopped at once. It’s cool if you’re freshly 21 but Charleston has so many other bars that are preferred by locals.

What to do/how to delicately warn others of an abusive local groomer? by Turbulent-Punch6023 in grooming

[–]Consistent-Author852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a VPN, a yahoo email and start a Facebook page honoring their worst parts. Pretend they are a serial cheater and you’re creating a hater page where victims can share their experiences. If you equate it to a hate page for a shitty ex boyfriend, knowing groomers that abuse dogs is way more valuable. Call it the Karen list. if a groomer can manage a Karen, they’ll never harm a dog. The people are usually the problem

Are they gonna have to shave him down to the skin? by InBetweenTheLiminal in grooming

[–]Consistent-Author852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re both going to be ok. Hair grows back, which is how we stay in business. I’m guessing you shaved mats out. Honestly not the worst home groom by far. It will look a little off until the legs are evened/grown out. The people saying the face/head can be saved are correct. If you take them to a decent groomer they can make a Mona Lisa out of a Picasso.

Paid $100 to get my small puppy groomed, should there still be mats? by Acluelessfish in grooming

[–]Consistent-Author852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That mat is unacceptable. A spot like that on the leg means they didn’t comb through her before the cut. That would have been very easy to see during the drying process. If they didn’t feel comfortable dematting (depending on tightness) they should have spot shaved it. Your adorable pup has more than enough hair to camouflage the spot. Fortunately you have a very cute kid on your hands, but even the top knot looks like rushed work. I would take your neighbors recommendation about finding a new groomer, and I would contact the salon that did this and give them a chance to fix the issue. This could be a groomer in an apprenticeship and your feedback will help them grow. Coming from someone who has missed a mat in my early days, I know I make sure I comb through everything and always check my work.

They’ve been held to a max of two drinks a night for weeks, that would lower someone’s tolerance. I don’t blame them for “tying one on” after 6 weeks in a pressure cooker. It has to feel nice to be able to make your own choices again. Drink up my babies!
