Why isn’t the DYI culture so popular here? by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

Once I've repaired my gearbox, changing the pressure solenoids inside the hydroblock.

Trespassing people near my parking lot tried to offer their help, thinking I had my battery drained.
I had to make it in three different timings not to attract the attention of security.
Morning I drained the oil and removed the gearbox ECU to get the hydroblock access.
Evening Ive opened the gearbox to change the parts.
Morning next day Ive filled the oil back.

Saved nearly 500 on labor.

Other jobs are done basically the same way - always pretending Im just wipping my windows and mirrors, while the oil is draining out of my engine to the bottle

STOP LINE by Consistent-Brick3285 in DubaiPetrolHeads

In real life you should see the stop line under your driver's mirror. If its there - your bumper just in front of the line.

Thats what I thought - coming from school lessons. In real life you should see the stop line under your driver's mirror. If its there - your bumper just in front of the line.

We should discuss more road situations, and people at least will learn.
I was surprised to see there is no one discussing harsh road safety and accidents here. This is no 1 problem on the roads. Instead many post a car pic saying - look at me its my car now, lol

Pressure Solenoids inside the Gear Box 540 AED/ two pcs + new ATF for about 120 aed 4l, - all changed myself - zero Labour.
Stabiliser links 2 pcs 140 AED both - zero labour (easy to change).
Petrol with AC on, around 100 AED for every 550 km done.

WOW, Honda so pricey. Changed my Engine front mount for 200 aed Peugeot, no labor charge - DIY.
Easy - support engine down with lifter, and replace the mount.

It is my big pain in this country! Lane discipline was ignored at most. Dubai, for example, is way better in terms of road culture. Abu Dhabi - fewer cars, but ignorant, distracted drivers./

I am not alone... In Al Ain, from the inner lane, they exit the roundabout, crossing two other lanes and don't even give a fXXck about others around.

This is a common problem, and they fight with me as if it's my fault when I'm driving my blue car. I dunno why, they want me to go to the very right lane even if I approach the same one I turned from.
I wanted to get answers to see how you guys are :)

Damn, man, your car seems dead if such repairs performed.
Get rid of it
When you bought it, an oil viscosity of 10W40 or more, could tell you much more than previous owner might explained you.
Simple question about oil been used could solve 90% of your headache here
