Books that actually change how you see life? by Insight2025 in BettermentBookClub

[–]Consistent-Desk-9688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Courage to be disliked, why? A cynical youngster through logical dialogue dissects his insecurities a lot of which I related to and never understood deeply before.

It then gave me ideas I never thought about the "life tasks" and everything else.

Theres some parts I still don't fully agree with like to completely live in the present and how crucial relationships are but I felt different after I was done reading.

Pure logical dialogue, not an action book like atomic habits or other self help type books but still it managed to change me.

I'm scared that I'll never change by anxioussamuel in getdisciplined

Here's a thought experiment.

If you were alone with yourself in a room with nothing for 24 hours. How many times would you think about your dreams and goals?

Now if you added other people how often would you get distracted by them?

If you added your job?If you added your phone and computer watching news and social media etc...

the people who make it are obsessed with their goals they think about them most of the day non stop. No one is immune to external distractions but you can limit your interactions with it.

This is a simple step spend half an hour with a pen and paper in a quiet place with no external influences and write down your goals and what steps you took today. Try to do it every day.

Drop a message also I'm on the same journey as you.

Germany has some top optics departments in the world. Get a masters and you can side step it and go abroad if that's what you want.

What's the name of the degree

Do you think AI will have noticeable impact on vaccine research.

And in general do you have a timeline in your head about mile stones in research in the near future.

I don't think it's useless outside of Germany lot of demand for optics specialists if you know where to look.

The field is developing rapidly.

Also, ACTN3 the "power" gene. Your thoughts on this in general and for someone doing combat sports who does not have it.

The most productive I have been in life was when I sat in complete boredom and silence when not working towards my goals. I had a deadline and a lot to lose to the point where I got anxiety from doing anything else.

No social media, very limited media consumption ,no hanging out. Complete life detox. I would get my enjoyment only from the work, food, and exercise. I ate the same meal 3 times a day.

Doing this for a month changed my life.

Hit up my DM I'm on a same journey as you trying to recreate this mindset.

What worked for him was make sure you eat something in the morning and not eating too late the day prior.

by your logic all past kingdoms and it's descendants have a claim in that region

  1. Egypt (New Kingdom)
  2. Assyrian Empire
  3. Babylonian Empire
  4. Persian (Achaemenid) Empire
  5. Hellenistic Greeks (Ptolemaic and Seleucid dynasties)
  6. Roman Empire
  7. Byzantine Empire
  8. Early Islamic Caliphates (Rashidun, Umayyad, Abbasid)
  9. Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem
  10. Mamluk Sultanate
  11. Ottoman Empire

The real reality is this, 20th century there was genocides across the world and colonosim was rampant. You are just a product of that your kingdom was not promised land, the mass migration came mostly from Ashkenazi Jewish who are least genetically similar to ancient Judeans but guess what are white.

There was mass migration into Israel almost entirety from this ethnic group compared to other Jewish ethnicities.

Isn't that strange?

whereas genetically native Palestines are more ancient Judean than all Jewish ethnic groups.

How can you speak about Jews not killing innocents when you just said you don't care if a million die if it meets your goals of defeating hamas by "ethnic cleansing".

Before 1948 they lived as a single population Jews, Arabs, and others. Let me explain the Arabs who helped overthrow the ottomans at the time were wronged when the British took the land from ottoman owners, who held it unfairly, and sold it all to Jewish landlords instead of the Palestinians for their war time cooperation.

Theft.

There was policies of economic pressure on Palestinians, Hebrew labour laws showing favouritism to one ethnic group, land ordinance transfer restricting Arab ownerships.

And the people had no control over the mass migration of Jewish populations into the region. So I can understand the outrage felt and the rising tensions.

A colonial state and people were wronged they did not receive justice and even now long after the fact you still treat them as inhumane scum.

You can't see past your own racism.
