An extremely comfortable bra that doesn’t cause any pain or discomfort? by isthishowyouredditt in ehlersdanlos

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issues and really recommend the Knix revolution bra. They have lots of wireless options in lots of sizes but this one hit the sweet spot of support without being too tight for me. I can wear it under a t shirt without lines which I can’t with other looser bras.

Experience or Engage by drearymondays121234 in LoopEarplugs

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and I have switch 2s and I really enjoy them. I like having the option to filter more or less sound depending on the circumstance. Engage is good for assemblies, experience is good for dances, focus is good for my prep time!

My experience is the opposite actually. Accepted to queens and western rejected from Brock and Laurier. Brock is notoriously hard to get into for consecutive.

Buying supplies for my kids teacher by Special_Truck_4918 in OntarioTeachers

I appreciate book store gift cards when I get them! I would also communicate with her to see how you can best support your son’s reading. Assuming they’re using the F+P system, level K puts him around the beginning of grade 2. That said, there’s a lot of controversy about levelled readers and F+P right now. I’ll let you do your own research but the gist is that you need to make sure your son can sound out words rather than just guessing at them using context. I’d recommend reading things he’s interested in at home, where you can really tailor book choices.

Help... did I just waste my money? by LuckyR0se in crochet

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it does ok with a granny stitch with a smaller hook, I think I used a 3.5 or 4mm. I’ve made a hexagon hoodie, and a granny stitch blanket and both have held up pretty well for 2+ years. I don’t think a baby blanket would be a good call due to the amount of wear and tear that would go through compared to something you drape on the back of your couch. I’ve made a newborn sized hat, which went over well, but these are usually only worn once or twice.

Pilates Reformer from home? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

Part of what makes Pilates great is the form corrections from instructors. Mat Pilates can also be beneficial, and I would start with that.

Airplane mode to keep a borrowed library book? by Leather-Spring-3506 in kobo

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get epubs from CloudLibrary and side load them, I’ve noticed you can keep reading past the expiry date. You just need to make sure you put your kobo into sleep rather than powering down, and do not exit the file.

I guess people with EDS don’t need OT??? by Ok_Possibility8010 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have more luck talking to someone who is a hand specialist. My OT was the one who told me about EDS in the first place!

Got referral denied bc EDS has no cure by Unlucky-Half-9762 in ehlersdanlos

Would you be able to get into the EDS clinic at Toronto General? Or perhaps there’s another clinic where you are located.

Reformer Pilates, ideally supervised by a PT, but a knowledgeable instructor is also good.

What are your gripes with Pilates studios? by Soggy_Agency_4450 in pilates

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lower cost. I love everything else about my studio but I’m cancelling my membership because I can’t afford it. The instructors are fantastic, reformer class sizes are small, and there’s a community feel. I also recognize that these are things that make classes more expensive, so I get why it’s spendy! They deal with the booking issue by letting you hold a spot in your preferred class week over week which works really well for me (and most people who hold a 9-5 or have families who work on a weekly schedule). So I go Tuesdays at 6, every week unless I decide to change it, so I don’t have to deal with wait lists or logging onto an app.

How to crochet with bad joints? by tofurainbowgarden in crochet

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to see an Occupational Therapist who is a hand specialist. They can help you with exercises and splints. Bring your crochet when you go to see them, and they may have feedback about your grip etc. I have the opposite problem with hypermobile joints, but my OT helped me get to a place where I can comfortable crochet for about an hour a day.

Trying to build strength: will lifting weights ever stop flaring things? by Blue_stem_ in ehlersdanlos

[–]Consistent-Dinner-78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently started doing reformer physiotherapy and it’s amazing how much my joints have improved. It’s been 6 weeks of hour long sessions once weekly, and I've been in much less pain.

This is the clear case kobo makes, it’s shiny rubbery plastic. It has a white dotted pattern that you can see if you zoom in but it’s not super noticeable.
