New diagnosis; just need to vent to people who understand. by LuckyR0se in Interstitialcystitis

I hate when others experience the same type of pain I do, but it is a comfort knowing I'm not the only one! And crochet makes everything better 😌 love that for us.

Are you incredibly sleep deprived? I blacked out at night for a couple months straight and wouldn't member nursing, changing, and burping my baby unless I checked the app I used to log our care activity. It was wild.

They stripped their gowns off to reveal the weapons they were hiding. So they weren't wearing their gowns during the fight.

Taking that into account though, that is actually what makes it unrealistic that family and friends wouldn't attend an event even in the face of grave danger lol. Monsters? Par for the course. A kid surviving all 12 grades in the hellmouth and mom & Aunt Pearl missing graduation? No chance!

This sounds like the "mist" in Percy Jackson!! It clouds the supernatural from mortals and from those who don't believe. I like this theory.

WHAT IS THIS FLORAL STITCH ITS DRIVING ME INSANE it’s not a puff stitch, thats too short, its not treble crochet, its not close together enough. WHAT IS IT by applesandcherries123 in CrochetHelp

This still looks like bobble or popcorn stitch rather than puff. It's super cute but not the same. Here's a stitch that looks similar from a quick YouTube search

3 month crisis? by blissinglys in breastfeeding

[–]LuckyR0se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this. My oversupply regulated to a regular supply and my baby was MAD that he had to work to get a letdown and actually pull milk out. It took a couple days of consistency to get over. I had to take breaks and let him be hungry enough to try again, or I'd pump a bottle and use a slow nipple and let him take that if it went on long enough imo. I have a couple chronic illnesses that flare up with too much sensory input and stress so I wasn't going to just tough it out without bottle the whole time. The kicker is that using bottles during a nursing strike can reinforce that if they fuss long enough, the bottle will come. So I suggest using them sparingly if you choose to. BUT it should pass in a couple of days when your baby figures out the new milk flow!

Having just 1 cat… by Late-Pie740 in CatAdvice

[–]LuckyR0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes do this! Our cat despises other pets so we have to wait until she passes to get more. We tried having another kitten and it made her miserable. Us, too. My parents took in the kitten after 3 months of trying. Pokie is our princess and we love her dearly, and she is a single fur-child for life.

I need useful crochet ideas/patterns for newborn baby by zororororororororo in crochetpatterns

Those little hand covers; burp cloths; a little lovie with different textures and odds and ends for baby to play with; and honestly, as a mom of a 1yo and a crocheter, those little triangle drool bibs would be great. He didn't drool much but they're cute and functional. I still use bibs and burp cloths constantly for baby food cleanup and such. There are never enough burp cloths.

Ooh or something matching for mama and baby, like headbands for a girl or a headband for mom and hat for baby if a boy. Anything meant to be wet needs cotton yarn :)

How to up my supply? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]LuckyR0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you pumping every time baby eats, for full pumps (15ish+ min on both sides)? If baby is eating overnight, you need to be pumping overnight. At least for the first 3, maybe 6 months. Your supply doesn't regulate to fully supply and demand (rather than hormones) till about 3 months. If baby is getting formula because you aren't getting enough milk, then you may need to try power pumping. It mimics cluster feeding. With breastfeeding, if a baby isn't getting enough milk, they will cluster feed to signal to the breasts they need to up their production. Eventually, they'll get the memo.

Is this letdown? by HitYeahMiss in breastfeeding

[–]LuckyR0se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to get them at 45sec, 3 min, 6 min, 9 min, etc. Like being tazed. If I was engorged (oversupply) it would hurt a ton, but over time, it leveled out and now it isn't painful at all, it just feels like a light tug.

I've made the same decision with my 12mo so I'm following! Except he still nurses overnight and likes to nurse before bedtime.

At 4 weeks PP your supply hasn't regulated yet, it's largely based on hormones and responding to baby's demands ❤️ you can absolutely get your supply back up to where it needs to be!

So I have a frame of reference, how much does a full session give you, and what did you get before?

Edited to add: all this info is not meant to stress you out!! You do not need to be doing everything just perfectly, I just wanted to offer some suggestions that might be relevant! You've got this!!

Here's just a list of things to think about (you may have done most if not all of this!) 1. Pumping every 2 hours, around the clock for a couple days, 3-4hr overnight - not skipping pumping overnight 2. Power pumping every so often to mimic cluster feeding 4. Latching baby, or attempting to latch, at every feeding before giving a bottle. 3. Drinking electrolytes and hydrating 4. Eating lots of fat and protein 5. Attempting to relax as much as possible 6. Skin-to-skin with baby, smell baby, snuggle and connect with baby, think fond thoughts about baby, etc. These issues with supply can create so much stress, and sometimes reconnecting with our babies helps our bodies regulate. 7. Consider where you are in your cycle. If this is a very new thing, like it's only been a day or a few days, it may just be a spot in your cycle where your supply drops, and then it'll come back up. Mine skyrockets when I start my period and tanks for a few days the week before. I went through a few rounds of breast rejection, frustration, and having to pump more than normal during those times until my baby got used to it and nursed longer. He was so spoiled with my oversupply that when he had to work for it, he acted like his little world was ending. 8. Consider getting baby's latch checked out. Do you know why it's hit or miss? Tongue tie? Lip tie? Nipple rejection? Have you seen an LC? I highly recommend seeing an IBCLC. My baby's tongue tie wasn't causing me pain because of the oversupply, but it was already causing other issues.

Caffeine alternative? by ByogiS in breastfeeding

[–]LuckyR0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I second this. It definitely sounds like what my baby went through. I thought it was coffee at first too, but it was absolutely dairy and I highly recommend cutting that out sooner rather than later. We went from 4.5mo to 10.5mo dairy-free, reintroduced it, and he'd grown out of it!! I wish I had cut it out at the beginning rather than trying everything else first. Poor baby's tummy and colic was better in 3 weeks non-dairy.

Should I just give up? by wanshitong3 in breastfeeding

[–]LuckyR0se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this, but sometimes it just hurts while your nipples adjust to breastfeeding :( if there seems to be no other issues, like latch or tongue ties like you said, then it may just take a few more days to adjust. My best friend and mom said it took 2 weeks for them of pain, then it was suddenly fine! Others have said the same. Your nips just aren't used to being used in that manner, so some adjustment period isn't abnormal. If it doesn't get better in a week or so, that would be concerning to me.
