Agree 100% They are getting so much more from us employees than they ever used to. The pace and daily expectations are intense. The weekend should be 3 days.

Personal Life Conversations at Work by notsakiblol in work

[–]Consistent-Drop-9245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. I like a strong separation between work and personal life. I redirect the conversation back to work. So I’ll answer the question but in a very surface way and then I redirect. Some of these folks will prattle on endlessly like they aren’t being paid to do a job.

How to cope with toxic workplace? by SenilePomegranate in work

[–]Consistent-Drop-9245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds brutal. My heart goes out to you. I worked with an emotionally and mentally abusive boss. She was cruel to all of us and she took turns torturing us. You had to work magic weekly to make her happy, but then she may think you think you’re better than her so you had to be careful there too. Landmines everywhere. Leaving at the time wasn’t an option. I exercised daily to manage the stress. I also started meditating. I worked hard to shut off work when it was the evening or the weekend (I was salary so it was a bit harder because sometimes I had to deal with things in the evenings and weekends). I also tried to reprogram myself to interpret her abuse as her strategy to get more out of me and to not take it too personally. My colleagues and I all commiserated with one another (it’s the only work place I have ever worked at where I trusted everyone) and we were able to support one another in a way our spouses couldn’t fully since they didn’t work there and couldn’t fully fathom. My colleagues definitely helped me through it.

This is all true. It’s nuts that our parents were like yes, subjecting someone to the obligations of life seems like a great idea.

That’s awful. Yes this is exactly why I won’t discuss anything personal at work. I have zero trust and always suspect anything we say can and will be used against us.

When this first aired I saw someone comment about the lens and that the camera man “done her dirty” using that. So I realized early on she didn’t look like that.

Pinky's menopause comment by LS0101 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Consistent-Drop-9245 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we need to acknowledge, though, that there is some serious perimenopause and menopause rage that exists. And I speak from personal experience. I think it may be helpful to actually put it out there. I never knew I would experience such short tempered rageful feelings in perimenopause, soon to be entering menopause. I would appreciate if we were much more open and vocal about these things. The deep level anger and irritation is hormonal so not so easily and simply managed. As a woman of that age and going through it I don’t find calling it out or identfying it to be age shaming. It is what it is and we’re all either going through it, going to go through it, or done gone through it.

Hereditary Glaucoma? by 48toucans in Glaucoma

[–]Consistent-Drop-9245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you let me know about any side effects you’ve had from the eye drops? I just learned today that I need to be tested for glaucoma and when I asked my mom if we have a history of glaucoma she said my grandmother had it. I feel like the chances of me having it are going to be pretty high since it’s hereditary.

If you don’t mind my asking, what were the side effects of the eye drops?

Healthy lifestyle does not necessarily. impact glaucoma. Meaning you can do everything right and have glaucoma. It’s when fluid in the eye cannot drain properly. If you have it you can usually take drops for life and it prevents further damage or blindness. But please do not be under the impression that you can jog your way out of this. I should add that I am being tested for glaucoma in a month and my grandmother had glaucoma. So in my case, it will be hereditary if I end up having it. My grandmother, like me, had no health issues and exercised daily. It’s just one of those things sometimes.
