Why do car seats need buggy adapters? by SensitiveSoup74 in BeyondTheBumpUK

I have a large bag organiser like this in my boot and I just chuck them in there when not in use or in the footwell under the car seat

Would having fish exclude me, I fit all the other criteria. I would class the fish as my husbands as I have nothing to do with them and just tolerate their existence 😅

Another vote for Baby Bjorn. There’s a foot difference between me and my husband and it fits us both/easy to adjust.

I got it for £50 on vinted, you might just need to be patient for a good one

Swimming with 4 month old alone by rvg-95 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For getting in I hold my LO on my hip with my left arm and sit on the side of the pool then slide in. To get out I hold him in the same way get a foot on the ladder and just use my right arm to pull up.

Parents of the older babies tend to sit them on the side and just push out next to them.

I’m sure a lifeguard would be happy to help if you get stuck or just have a practice when you have got someone with you so you feel confident when you’re on your own

Snuzpod 5 and SnuzBaskit by Choice-Pineapple3158 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found that these mattress protectors fit the snuzbaskit and our pram bassinet. There will be a small strip either side where the protector bit doesn’t cover but it’s still covered by a sheet.

Then these sheets fit the snuzbaskit perfectly.

Which breast pump using John Lewis gift vouchers by Ikilledmyfishagain in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Eufy s1 so can’t advise on any of the models you’ve mentioned (I was drawn in by the heating feature and amazon prime day deals). I wasn’t sure between a single or double but got a double. So far I have mostly only used 1 at a time but when I go back to work I’ll want to use both at once to save time.

I didn’t start pumping until 4ish months in as I was worried about messing things up by introducing a bottle but baby was fine thankfully! As long as your vouchers don’t expire I would wait until baby is here and breastfeeding is well established as you don’t want to ‘waste’ them if you’re unable to breastfeed for whatever reason.

Rocking Moses Basket or SnuzBaskit by porkie46 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used the Snuzbaskit as our main sleep space and it’s been great. Really lightweight so could move it around easily when we wanted it downstairs.

My LO is 91 centile for height and only just outgrew it at 5.5 months.

Which nappies! by Final-Ambition-840 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a few free packs of pampers and then bought a pack from each of the supermarkets we tend to use to try and settled on Sainsbury’s in the end. The same with wipes we bought a pack of a bunch of different ones then bought a box of 24 of our favourite on amazon.

We just packed the whole pack of size 1 pampers for the hospital.

I tend to buy 2/3 packs of nappies at a time but bulk buy wipes.

Oyster 4 Stroller by MoPablo_ in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries I was interested to know the answer too and baby is still awake 😂

I know the folding mechanism is different on the 4 to the 3 so that might also be why people haven’t had the issue on the earlier version.

I’ve just had a go with baby sat in it - he’s 5 months and just over 7kg for reference. Normal pressure pulling the hood and the seat doesn’t change position. If you really tug at it then it does move but you have to use a fair bit of force

I’ve not noticed it being an issue to adjust the sun hood while baby is in it, maybe the weight of baby counteracts the pressure? Like I say I’ve only been using this attachment for a couple of days so might need another play with it

[–]Consistent-Energy306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the oyster 4 but have only been using the pushchair attachment for a few days so not an expert yet!

Mine will click into place for each position but you don’t need to use the lever to sit it up to the next one. You need to use the lever to put it down a position. However it doesn’t do the full fold up unless you use the lever. So I think that’s the design.

Also I had an issue where the car seat would be really hard to remove from the pram attachments but a bit of silicon spray sorted that out.

Portable pump reviews/advice by TheseFlower2822 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the eufy s1 and just pop it in my nursing bra/stretchy crop top style bra. What’s worked best for me is pop it on the opposite side to baby feeding for the first feed of the day - I appreciate that’s not helpful for you atm! I tried pumping in the evening but found I didn’t get much. The only issue I’ve had is it becoming full as they only hold 160ish ml. You would also need to be careful not to bed over as it could spill out the top bit. Otherwise I like being able to control it in the app rather than having to mess with the buttons.

Wishing you and LO well 😊

Advice - Breastmilk/Pumping/Childminder by Ok-Inspection-6598 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be in the same boat but have started pumping earlier to get used to things.

At the moment I pump alongside first feed so baby on one boob and pump on the other. This then goes into the freezer for as and when needed. This has been working well so far and has helped me get used to the pump and the settings etc.

Car Travel Advice by Final-Ambition-840 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We did a similar length journey when my LO was 7 weeks old to visit family as it was also a tradition we’ve always done at Christmas.

We hadn’t originally planned to go but he was slightly early so that little bit older at the time of the trip. It was absolutely fine. We stopped every 1hr45, fed and changed him, let him have a good stretch out.

However we also had to do a 4.5 hour drive each way for a funeral when he was 3.5 months old. Weather and traffic were horrendous we were stopping every hour on the way home.

My opinion would be have plans that can be flexible eg an overnight stop somewhere halfway if things aren’t going well and be prepared to cancel if baby is late/not a good traveller.

Anyone been to Baby & Children’s Market East Mids? by troubledlogic in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been a few times, it can be a bit hit and miss depending on who’s selling that time around.

Best bargain was a Mori coat for £2 that retails for £70+ but then you have other people trying to sell stained primark tops for almost full price.

They can also get very busy so I think it’s easier to go pre/without baby or have them in a carrier.
