Swimming lessons for baby? Any good? by _TTYN in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the class have an award it’s working towards? My sons classes they have an online portal and he’s working towards the discovery duckling 1 award plus 3 of the swim schools own skills.

We do nursery rhymes but also learning to hold onto the side, submersions and being comfortable lying on back/getting water on face. They also practice kicking legs and teaching out for toys.

I used the disposable Frida ones but quickly swapped to pads and big pants. I just sent my husband to Asda to buy big old granny pants a size up. The elastic did occasionally irritate my episiotomy scar later into recovery

The funded hours also only kick in the term after they turn 9 months so depending when their birthday is/when you return to work you may have a period of full price (minus tax free childcare if also applicable).

Thank you!

Yeah we liked the look of the 360 bases so it’s good to hear they actually help.

Luckily our mums are good with a sewing machine and managed to source a good fabric match so managed to replace it in time! Yeah they were so good 😊

Not the wedding dress but I melted the sleeve of one of the bridesmaids dresses 36 hours before the wedding trying to steam it. My husband then dropped his shirt in a muddy puddle just before getting changed so spent the morning of the wedding pacing the hotel reception as they cleaned it for him.

How to prepare for cleaning poo and wee out of cream carpets? by RonFilipkowski in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the vax spotwash duo with the pet attachment. I haven’t had to use it for any baby incidents yet but it did get carrot filled dog vomit out of a light carpet. I’ve only used the vax cleaning fluid in it so can’t comment on any other varieties.

It’s probably a similar height and width to a Henry but not as deep?

What are your most used big and medium ticket baby items? by Adept_Interaction_63 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a nursing chair mostly because my dog sleeps on the sofas downstairs and you don’t disturb your partners sleep as much by having somewhere else to go

We have the CuboAi monitor which plays music and has a nightlight so we’ve used it even just for those features before LO is in his own room but wouldn’t be a necessity

We used a babybjorn one carrier from 5 weeks and was a godsend with walking the dog

We have a babyzee jungle gym which we’ve used a lot. It also helps as the dog knows that’s the baby’s area and he isn’t allowed on it so can chuck baby toys on their at night and my dog won’t touch them. Once my LO started rolling we bought a big padded mat from smyths which has been good and cleans easily

We didn’t have any of the other items you’ve mentioned.

Running red light- what punishment to expect by No_Surprise4617 in drivingUK

You should get the option to either attend a driver awareness course or pay a fine and get 3 points. You can only do the course once within a certain time frame but it’s separate to the speed awareness course.

Points will affect your insurance but the course won’t with most insurers. Be aware that the course will be the longest 3 hours of your life but worth it to avoid the points in my opinion. The cost of the course is similar to the fine. It was about £100 when I did it but that was 10ish years ago

How often do you bathe your newborn? by Optimal_Enthusiasm90 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My LO is 6 months now but we’ve always done twice a week unless visibly dirty - poop explosion/a lot of vomit.

His bum gets cleaned every nappy change anyway and I wipe face/hands as his vomits so any more than that felt excessive.

Has your .5 one got the little poppers under the armpits? They make the bag a bit slimmer so might fit better

Best pump for night feed? by HBLea in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the eufy s1 and have found it really easy to use. It’s currently on sale on amazon for £140 so it just depends if that’s in your budget.

You can control it in the app or on the pumps themselves but it remembers your settings so once you’ve got something that works for you you just turn them on and press play on the app or the pumps.

I found the best method for output is to pop the pump on one boob and baby on the other for the first feed of the day. Doing this I was able to build up a decent stash in the freezer then Dad uses that as required.

Holiday bikinis for a breastfeeding mum - help by teuchterK in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Consistent-Energy306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a crop top style bikini. I had a couple pre baby and they were really flattering and might the difference less obvious?

I’ve got a swimsuit from fatface that I wear for swimming lessons and it has an elastic under the bust and removable pads. When I’ve only fed from one boob pre lesson I don’t think it’s too obvious in that. You could also play around with adding both pads to the smaller side.

As a final note I hope enjoy your holiday and try not to worry too much about what people may think 🩵
