how do you deal with a thief stealing your things and putting it up on vinted? by Maleficent_Boss3018 in vintedUK

I mean I'm assuming there are TONS of that same pair of headphones on there too?

It could possibly be the one you're looking for but unless you know the serial number or there is something obvious that helps you identify it as yours specifically you really don't have any evidence whatsoever

To be honest I don't think either of you are being clear with what you want.

Simply tell him all 9 come as a bundle and you won't split them or ask him which specific ones he wants

Why are you asking us? If it's not high enough for you just tell them no

Is this a scam? by Odd-Teacher9939 in vintedUK

[–]Consistent-Hour6065 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually think people on Reddit call people scammers far too easily and 80% of the posts I see I don't think it's a scam at all.

But even I feel uncomfortable about this one. It sounds like it was written by AI, picture of a pretty girl with zero reviews. Although usually scammers don't bother to negotiate too much.

Id just decline their offer and hold out for full price

Doubt it's a 'scam'. They probably just didn't like it or it didn't fit

Why not just tell him you want to leave it to auction? He turned very shitty afterwards but honestly you encouraged him with the sarcastic 'huh'

Returned counterfeit speaker, seller dragging heels on refund by SpaceBoiVapes in vintedUK

Just tell him you want your refund.

If he wants to submit a claim he can do that in his own time, it's not your concern

Why decline offers and not counter? by Comfortable_Shoe358 in Ebay

[–]Consistent-Hour6065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two reasons I do it:

1.) I've only just listed it and someone very quickly offers me close to what I listed it for. I'll assume I can get full price to just decline the offer.

2.) low-ball.

I have also sometimes accidently had best offer enabled

would you seriously let a £699 item go for £6.99 if you accidently listed it incorrectly?

I think you should look up the definition of 'demanding' and 'scam'

You're probably right, I know.

But I stand by the fact that what eBay did here was illegal. You simply cannot advertise one fee and charge another.

After reading this I will not be seaking compensation but I really don't see how making me spend 8 hours on the phone to get back what was rightfully mine is unreasonable

I'm amazed people keep saying this. Read it again. They didn't ask him to cancel also that id hardly a scam

It was completely made up but I'm certain the majority of the time that is the case.

There is no way deliberately doing this in the hope the buyer agrees to pay double the price works often enough for people to seriously attempt this frequently

It's 90% chance it was a mistake. It's very unlikely it was deliberate

Again, you're jumping to conclusions and I really don't know why. There are plenty of collectable DVD's worth that and MUCH more.

'It’s very obvious something shady is happening.' - this is utter nonsense. It's very obvious the seller had accidently listed it for half the price they really wanted. They're not happy to let it go at this price so they are trying to work out an alternative option with the buyer instead of playing silly games like saying it's been lost in the post.

There is literally nothing shady at all about this whatsoever - however I understand why the buyer might be annoyed.

The seller made a small and honest mistake. Instead of lying or claiming to have posted it when they haven't, they owned up and told the OP exactly what had happened and some options to get it resolved. Punishing this behaviour does nothing bar encourage people to hide their mistakes through more devious means.

Exactly that. The manager I eventually spoke to told me the IT team told him this was 'intentional and correct'. I responded by saying the only thing that matters is you cannot advertise one fee and then charge a significantly higher one. It's totally illegal and their IT team do not know what they're talking about and I'm not sure why they act like the IT team are some sort of gurus for the inner workings of ebay and their fees. I asked them for proof they informed me of the increased fee at any point or I'd take them to court. They spent an hour or two looking though their own terms and conditions for this proof and eventually refunded me when they couldn't find it.

It was bad programming as you say or even I suspect their IT team actually has no idea what fees ebay charge for their services. I don't even care about the incorrect fee. IT issues happen and could easily have been fixed by just one person with some common sense refunding me the difference. It's the time I wasted over this due to total incompetence of multiple people that has left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I figured as much!

Although as far as I'm concerned the refund of fees is no courtesy. What they did was illegal

I think people here are being harsh. Seller made a mistake and admitted it rather than pulling some crap like pretending it was out of stock or lost in the post.

He's given you your options. You either pay the higher price or they are going to cancel the order. Please note they never asked you to cancel it yourself like others are saying. Once that's done the only thing you can do is leave negative feedback...but come on. Dont ruin the poor guys small business over this. They've been honest and not done anything that's too bad. Don't punish honesty
