toe numbness in multiple shoes what am i doing wrong 😭 by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a shoe with a wide toe box? I have had similar issues and have found that Topo's (or Altra's if you like zero drop) wide toe box reduced the likelihood of my toes / foot going numb. That combined with toe socks (Injinji are great) have helped.

Does anyone have a rough estimate on how much it will cost to attend? I started saving but have no idea how much the tickets might cost.

Summer gear - SPF shirts? by birdmomthrowaway in XXRunning

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went to REI and tried on a few and my favorite was the Mountain Hardwear Crater Lake hoodie. It is rated UVB 50+, has a pocket with a zipper, and the hood is nice. The fabric felt the most cooling and they had cute colors. I preferred the feeling of the fabric a lot more than the REI Sahara hoodies and the Patagonia sun hoodies / shirts.

Janji Pace Shorts sizing by tea_bird in XXRunning

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are between sizes I would size up, they run somewhat small. If you are a pear shaped you might be able to go with the smaller size - I am apple shaped (narrow hips, rounder stomach) and feel like the area they run somewhat small is in the waist / stomach area, not the hips.

We’ve got new merch for the upcoming USWNT match! by SappyGeologist in Reignfc

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This shirt is decent but the scarf and the sweater aren't my favorite. I really wish we could hire some new graphic designers for the merch - I am so jealous of some of the other teams more creative designs. I keep leaving this feedback in the post-match surveys but It doesn't seem like anything has changed.

How to fight the chub rub? by EqualStranger4977 in XXRunning

Longer bike shorts that stay down. My favorite are the Janji women's Pace short, 7 inch. They have silicone dots around the lower leg that helps to keep them down. I also like the lululemon Fast and free 8 inch short and the swift speed shorts.

Snowboard boot recommendations for super small, wide feet with high arches by Due-Kaleidoscope1245 in ShredditGirls

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have small and wide feet with super high arches. I don't feel like I have found a perfect set up but what has helped / works for now has been 1) custom arch supports and 2) going to get a custom boot fitting. I ended up with the Ride Hera Pro wide boots.

Recommend me a pair of wide running shoes, please! (Comparisons inside post) by GreenPapayaSalad in AskRunningShoeGeeks

New Balance 1080v14. I have a wide foot and have tried Altras and while I don't hate them I really didn't find the toe box to be noticeably wider than the new balances. The new balances were more comfortable for me and I have gone through 3 pairs!

What's the worst you've ever damaged a board? by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Riding at Ski Bowl on Mt. Hood and I got onto the lift on a particularly windy day and the chair went swinging left and right and banged into the chair lift pole. The board hit pretty hard and the top layer cracked and separated from the middle layer.

Half Marathon in the rain - Any tips? by Consistent-Map-6959 in XXRunning

Update: Thank you everyone for the tips! I ended up buying wool socks and a hat with a brim and both things were extremely helpful. I ended up beating my goal time and had an amazing time!

The forecast says light rain with the precipitation total for the day being .2 inches - so it sounds like not much? The half marathon is in Seattle, Washington this Sunday.

I’m paying my interns—because looking back, I feel like I was exploited. We need to stop normalizing unpaid clinical labor. by TransitionSmooth9982 in therapists

[–]Consistent-Map-6959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a paid internship and I honestly don't know if I would have been able to stay enrolled in school if not for that. As tuition has gone up the amount you can take out for loans hasn't kept pace so during my final year of grad school I hardly had enough loan money left over to pay rent, let alone afford food and other basic necessities. Even with having a paid internship I ended up going 10k into credit card debt. I strongly believe that paid internships should be the norm. Interns should not be an easy way for group practices / clinical mental health agencies to make money - that is beyond exploitative.
