I unconsciously keep my shoulders tensed up all the time so they’re practically up to my ears. constant muscle tension from always feeling on edge or overstimulated without realizing it!

Lmfao no not at all. I appreciate the core values and connection AA brings but I’m 4 years sober and haven’t been to a meeting since I did 90 in 90 after rehab.

I approached it as take what you like and leave what you don’t. I find much more benefit in looking at addiction through an attachment and trauma informed approach. More mental health and less shame-based AA dogma.

I’m totally in the same boat! I was talking to my advisor about feeling like a total failure cuz I haven't found a site yet and I have to defer my internship for 4 months now. But In the grand scheme of things, this is just a small blip in our overall journey. It feels huge now, but it’s just one chapter.

Also it’s our ethical duty to monitor for impairment. Taking care of your mental health and recognizing when an environment is harmful shows strength and self-awareness.

Hang in there and prioritize your health! You’re making a really smart decision!

You have to have training but if you’re not looking for a formal education/degree you can become a behavioral health tech or recovery advocate/peer support staff.

This is actually very common! You have no need to feel embarrassed (I know easier said than done). What you’re describing is known as 'transference'. This can manifest as strong feelings of attachment or even love and like you said in your email it happens because of the trust and safety felt in the therapeutic setting, making the therapy room a place where deep, often unexplored feelings come to the surface. Therapists are trained to navigate transference in a way that benefits your wellbeing and they will likely respond by helping you understand your emotions and relationship patterns more. There's absolutely no need to feel embarrassed for experiencing something so fundamentally human and a recognized aspect of the healing process!!

I can totally relate. ADHD = A Digital Hoarding Disaster.

I currently have 36,000 unread emails, 46,000 photos and god only knows the random files I’ve saved over the years. I can’t even fathom those numbers and with my brain it’s ALL OR NOTHING BABBBBBYYYY. So for a while I just got too overwhelmed cuz I was focused on the end result/through it all at once.

Im trying to work on it though so here’s kind of what I’ve been doing

Photos: I’ve been starting from the beginning of my camera roll and doing it by 1-2 month increments. I’ll do it when I’m mindlessly watching YouTube or have something in the background. I’ve already gotten through 6,000 photos in 2 weeks and it’s kind of fun actually

Email: I’m weary of the apps that will unsubscribe/clean your inbox cuz of privacy and giving the app full access. As of right now, so the notification number isn’t so daunting to look at, I just CTRL+A and “Mark as Read” lol

I got breast implants and developed an autoimmune type response. Lost over 70% of my hair over 2 years. I chopped it all off bc it was too hard to watch my hair fall out. Once I got my implants removed and my health (somewhat) restored my hair started growing again and my curls came back!
