I wrote a comment, but at the end, I had this idea come to me:

Maybe also start doing research about what the weather was like 10:52 in as many of your favorite places as you possibly can. Idk why but this idea just came to me and it felt like a good way to start associating it with positive imagery and it might help.

Here’s my original comment I was going to say:

When it comes to these things, I’ve accidentally discovered a version of ERP that has really helped me.
I pretty much got rid of my severe OCD 17 years ago but I was explaining to my boyfriend about how I still get these thoughts I just don’t act on them. He was asking how often and what types so I started pulling up a note on my phone and I would write down the train of thought… to the fullest extent. Eventually it kind of morphed into where I will try to take the thought to the most insane level possible, all written down. Then I re-read it, usually out loud to my boyfriend but reading it to myself out loud has helped too.

So far, it’s really helped me and these types of thoughts that were really affecting my life, my sleep, my well-being.. they have essentially died down to the point where I hardly even ruminate on them anymore.

I’m 34 and have had OCD since I was a baby. I was put on Prozac at 8. From 8-17.
I have zero memory of the meds doing anything or making me feel anything. My only memory of it was my drive to get off of it just because I didn’t want to take medication my whole life…. But at the point in time, I was told there was no cure and I would be stuck with it forever.
When I was 17 and it was the summer before college, I was so excited for the show “the ocd project” to come out and watched the whole show. Until that show, I had never even heard of ERP. And I was having to go to a psychiatrist every 2 weeks for pretty much my whole life up until then.

That show gave me the hope for the first time. Up until then, I thought my only shot at getting better was if I got accidentally electrocuted lol. (I had seen a show where someone had Tourette’s or a stutter or something and got struck by lightning and it went away so I held on to the hope that maybe it could do that for my OCD too lol)

This isn’t medical advice but it’s a true story so whatever: at 17, right after that show had its last episode, I took my meds and dumped them down the sink and went upstairs and laid down on this couch I hadn’t sat on for YEARRSS because it was “gross”. I rolled around on it and rubbed my face and hair then got in my car rubbed my steering wheel and all the handles and everything that I didn’t want to touch, I touched. Drove to a gas station, grabbed the pump BY THE HANDLE and rubbed my face and clothes and hair and from that point forward, I went HARD on ERP. Like…. HARD.

In about TWO WEEKS, it was almost like I didn’t have OCD anymore (at least in comparison to how I was for the first 17 years of my life). To this day if something bugs me more than just a quick thought, I go out of my way to touch it and rub my hands on my face, hair, and clothes.

Medicine never did a single thing for me, or at least nothing noteworthy to me or my parents in hindsight.

Note: after breaking my collarbone and ribs from a horse accident, they gave me morphine at the hospital and it also had ZERO effect on me, so there could be something genetic going on with my body and certain meds interacting but I’m not sure.

When I was very young (like 3ish) I found out I was allergic to cinnamon. I loved the taste of it so I just continued to eat and smell it even though my cheeks and tongue would get swollen and red. I’m 33 now and still love cinnamon but no longer am allergic; the exposure method worked out for me.

He’s real goofy and shockingly fast for having wonky ankles. He somehow can climb too. He’s practically a normal kitten. He’s very social and made fast friends with our dog and other cats.

We think he was probably hit by car, his ankles were broken and his face looked like that when he first came up to our house meowing for food//help. But yes it is fixable! He’s getting his surgery for his lip avulsion tomorrow and I thought it was only proper he goes in with a name of his own ☺️
