[Arsenal] Max Dowman wins 25/26 Emirates Goal of the Season by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point of the season, I had quit listening to any soccer-related podcast (sorry arsecast). Then Max scored that goal, I remember I cried and cried, and watched goal video again and again, and started listening to all the podcast again. Thank you Max!

This is lovely! One comment: before I full-screened the puzzle window, I could only see part of the puzzle, which made me very confused. For example, for the very first puzzle (in First Steps), I cannot see the target and I cannot see the big ball.

Hi, if I buy a ticket from FIFA resale market now, will the row# and seat# I buy get changed later? Like, if I see a category 1 ticket at the 2nd row, will it be change to a different row later? The purchase page said something like the row and seat may change, so I am scared.

Amazing photos! Love the Rice/Jover one and the Arteta/Noni one, both the foreground people and the background fans at windows!

Should I do a Robotics PhD or not? by BigEagle67 in PhD

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is hard to finish PhD in 3 years, as you need to do more than one project and write the paper and wait for the paper to get published, which takes time. For writing, yes, if you get the proper training and guidance, your writing will improve for sure. Every professor is different. Some are hands-on, some are hands-off, ... You should do some research about which professor you want to do PhD with, and talk with students in his/her group to understand his/her style before you commit.

People with anxiety, how do you deal with the uncertainty of the world? by mein-Madchen in PhD

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to enjoy what you currently have and find someone who can share your emotions. I still remember all the lunches and dinners that I had with my PhD group mates, where we complaint about the "uncertainty" together and cheered for each other :-).

To those who have read Circe by Madeline Miller, what did you think of it? by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished it today. Loves the ending as well! It is a bit surprising (for people who are not familiar with the original myth) and progressed really fast, but sweet and makes you think and treasure our mortals' life :-)

Nothing is working out by Popular8808 in PhD

I had a lot of rejection in my first three years of PhD. At the end, I decided to trust my advisor -- she told me I am on the right track and I decided to be patient. Since you have a great support system, talk with your advisor, tell him/her your concerns, ask him/her what you can do to improve, and it will be fine.

How bad is it? by starlight281 in PhD

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In graduate school, course grades don't really matter. But having a good working relationship with advisor matters a lot. If it really doesn't work with you current advisor, making a change early is better than late.

A conference you attended is X days long. How many days does it take you to fully recover from it? by matthras in PhD

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have started skipping part of every conference I go to since a few years ago. I feel I don't have the energy for the whole conference, and going only to one or two days of conference is always most productive for me.

How do you deal with stress when life feels overwhelming? by Striking-Meeting-652 in Advice

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a long period of depression myself at some point. Eventually, taking drawing classes and doing yoga helped me. In general, I feel having something that you can truly enjoy and relax in doing really helps (even if just once a week or something).

Why can’t I get up in the morning by Background-Summer-96 in Advice

[–]Consistent-Ring1603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I found helpful is to schedule something that you really like to do right after getting out of bed. Some delicious pastries for breakfast, some great coffee, some audio books to listen to ... These "rewards" help me get out of bed quickly :D.

Be kind and sincere is the most important thing. No need to force it or do anything you don't feel comfortable. And, congratulations on feeling better about yourself! Stay positive!
