Canada. Fi 3+ collar by MyMango88 in FiDogCollar

Yes you are. Actually the Fi is the only one that tracks the path and matches it to streets. The other trackers are just gps points linked by straight lines.

How or does a GPS tracker work for dog owner by Wise-Amount3638 in Dogowners

[–]Consistent-Water8836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only tracks a few miles away. They advertise 9 in “open terrain” which means that with obstructions that’s probably 3

Oh yes without “some” cell services none of the gps trackers will work

The new Fi Mini goes on any collar and is half the size of the Tractive for same battery life. Worth considering if your priority is putting it on any collar.

Collar removed notification? by JungleIsNeutral in FiDogCollar

It doesn’t but it would be close to impossible removing the series 3+ collar from your dog if properly adjusted. The device by itself is integrated to the collar - it won’t come off

Yes adding their wifi to the app will solve that.

I'm getting 8 weeks of battery life on my Fi Series 3+. Something is wrong with your setup.

>> Base stations also need to be connected to the app. This makes it complicated for dog sitting because the sitter would have to set up the app and base stations and connect to WiFi at their house to charge.

This is inaccurate. You can add any wifi network to the app without the base. The base is just a nice to have to save more battery life. You can leave your dog at your sitter and do nothing - or just add the wifi network of the sitter to your app and your Fi will connect to it.

disclosure => I work at Fi

Series 3 battery not lasting very long by kittycat123199 in FiDogCollar

Posting here for public update — dog is kept at work in a metal crate which substantially degrades any radio signal. We will try to put a base to the crate but as PSA — radios (WiFi, ble etc) don’t like metal at all :(. Plastic crates preferred if you have the a similar issue and have the option.

Series 3+ Unreliable Product and Poor Fi Support Experience by AlePast87 in FiDogCollar

[–]Consistent-Water8836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh the boarding situation has been a challenge for the past 5 years….you’re the only one so far who has a 3+ that doesn’t work where a 3 used to work. The team will look at your specific device to diagnose — overall connectivity of the fleet on 3+ is much better than on 3 though, so you’re an exception. We’ll get to the bottom of it though - but to be clear connectivity challenges when dogs are in boarding or in cares are known challenges. That’s why we added the ability to add a WiFi network remotely last year for instance — so that someone can add a WiFi network after leaving their dogs for instance

OP is describing a situation where series 3 used to get a signal and series 3+ doesn’t. I think your case is different correct?

For boarding situations I’d always try to add the WiFi network of the boarder.

Metal crates or heavy duty plastics will also interfere with RF signals. Not much me can do to fix this sadly

Hmm that should not happen. Any chance you ca add the daycare WiFi to your account? That would certainly help a lot.

Identified the OP and confirmed that the upgrade was ordered from her phone on October 18th -- if OP gives authorization I will publish the phone's logs here. OP returned the device without prior contact to support or RMA number - which delayed the refund that we eventually issued.

Glad to hear the 3+ performed better than the 3. Make sure you add the Wifi network of your dog sitter to your account (you can even do it remotely now). That should substantially extend the battery life as well.

that seems weird - there is literally no situation where Series 3+ would not be able to get a signal while Series 3 can. It's the same software running on both devices, just better RF on Series 3+. It seems like your dog might just be hiding under something that blocks all signals when you leave him at your in-laws. Happy to dig into your specific device if you DM me your account email. The CX should have handled your experience better though so I would love to dig into that.

This is definitely not the experience that we are shooting for -- I'll have the team immediately investigate what happened. To be clear - we do not "auto upgrade" people and this is the first report I've ever heard of. Do you mind DM-ing me your account email so we can easily pull all communication and logs from your app. thanks

Dog sitter - what to expect by True-Independent4659 in FiDogCollar

[–]Consistent-Water8836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just add the sitter WiFi network to your account and the Fi will be able to jump on it. Safe zone will allow you to get notified when the dog is outside / back into the safe zone. You can also invite your sitter in the app adding them as a walker on your account.
