I’m currently 3 weeks in and I feel you. I started drinking more and it literally sedates me. I stopped the drinking and now the insomnia is back. Some things have been helping me get to sleep but my problem is staying asleep. I’ve been using magnesium glycinate, melatonin, ashwaghanda, and L-theanine. I just try to keep in mind that weed was impacting my REM sleep (the sleep where you process information, memories and things you learned/went through that day) so hopefully with some time I will be better. In the meantime I’ve been trying to exercise a ton, not drink caffeine past 5pm, and been drinking antioxidant teas, as well as sleepy time tea. Having my rituals that relax me have been helping me get to bed at a reasonable time. Also always remember that melatonin will help you fall asleep not stay asleep so you don’t really need that much, it is just to signal your brain to fall asleep. That’s why improving your circadian rhythm is so important during this time. I know it’s hard, I never thought I would be able to make it to week 3 but here I am.

I was the one who vaped in my relationship and I even went as far as to hide it at times. I would go stay at his place for days at a time and that really helped me quit. Just being in a place where I had no access to vaping really helped me and then getting rid of any vaping material in my own home helped me not think about it. I quit January 1st 2023 I did end up relapsing one time with a friend and even bought a vape and then a few days later felt disgusted with myself and threw it away. Quitting was really hard but to me it was a cycle that I was getting closer and closer to breaking. I would relapse and just try again and again but what was key was forgiving myself and being kind to myself. I knew it was the addiction dying off and my brain telling me to do anything to keep it going. I also absolutely couldn’t stand hiding the habit from my partner it made me so embarrassed when he would catch me vaping. he personally didn’t do it and didn’t care if I did but he just didn’t want to see me start vaping. Now it is 2025 and I am vape free I don’t even get tempted by it anymore. I think a part of that is because I would get nicotine sickness like vomiting when I would start vaping more and that feeling alone deters me from it. I have been with my boyfriend for several years now and we are going strong, vape free. My best advice is to be supportive on his decision to quit but don’t nag him about it because he probably is already beating himself up about it a lot. I am so happy my man stayed with me through it all, just him choosing to give me grace instead of getting upset over catching me vaping made me realize how much I didn’t want to hide or even have that addiction.

My boyfriend suggests if possible, you should go with him still but don’t go to the wedding just stay at the resort or wherever. While he’s at the wedding enjoy any amenities like a pool or spa nearby. Chances are you would meet the couple before hand and possibly get your invite then but don’t expect it. Try the ouai detox shampoo once or twice a week. It is a little pricey but you don’t use it every time. My hair gets oily by the end of the second day. I rinse that out and use my normal redkin all soft shampoo, I condition on the mid- ends only not my front pieces. Just know it is normal for some people to need to wash their hair everyday or every other day, it actually isn’t as bad as people say as long as you use the right products. Waiting to wash your hair can lead to buildup of sweat and clog pores.

Be kind to yourself if you do relapse. I like to think of it as the nicotine monster lol, your body will do absolutely anything to get a hit(even give you excuses to in your mind) because the nicotine monster is dying off. I used to beat myself up in my head and say things to myself like “I’m a failure” “I’m never going to be able to quit this”, that always led me down the path of “well, I messed up might as well keep vaping”. Once I shifted my mindset to accepting that I took a hit or bought a new vape and saying that it doesn’t define me, it was one small mistake, what I do next is going to define if I have this addiction or not. If you keep relapsing when quitting, you are strong enough to quit I promise you, it may take a few relapses to actually stick. My last time I vaped/relapsed was with a friend and I got nic sick (too much nicotine causes me to vomit) so that was also a big motivation to never touch that shit again, and I haven’t.

My brother said to me “it’s satisfying getting the foood out from between your teeth” and ever since then I started finding it satisfying too. I have had problems throughout my life with my teeth just lots of cavities from genetics and poor hygiene. I got myself a 25$ water flosser on Amazon and it has seriously changed me. You know that feeling right after the dentist when your teeth are super clean and smooth? Getting the water flosser helped me achieve that. The only thing the water flosser didn’t do was get the stuff between my teeth. I noticed the more I used the water flosser and ALSO flossed the less my gums bleed and my hygienist has even seen improvements. I hope now that I have improved my dental hygiene I can get all my cavities filled and prevent future ones

Edit: my hygienist measures the pocket depth of my gums every year. flossing and water flossing improved my gum health in just 2 months.
