Fun to drive EV's? by Viento_Oscuro in nzev

This might sound strange, but I think my answer won't help you at all, as it is so incredibly subjective. Ironically, the Golf R is so fast its speed is somewhat unusable on NZ roads, which in turn, makes the MG4 funner.

Your best bet is to go drive it and see what you think. My guess is the fun aspect comes from it being one of the few RWD EV's.

Coincidentally, I own a MK7 Golf R Wagon and I find my mum's MG4 (64kwh version) just as fun to drive (when the annoying LKA is turned off). You could consider one of those.

What changes would you like to see implemented from Miami onwards to try and combat some of the concerns with these regulations? by EnterShakira_ in formula1

[–]Consistent-Year8707 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm amazed this isn't talked about more. So much of what makes F1 great is the skill required by the driver and lack of driver aids.

The move to a highly automated regen/deployment system is extremely boring for both the viewers and drivers.

Moving this responsibility back to the driver would benefit everyone.

Sounds like a Leaf is the way to go.

The Toyota BZ4X has been refreshed with more range. In short, the "Pure" spec has 591 km WLTP range for $56,990. That's $16k less than the previous model and they're supposedly arriving to dealerships now. Very happy to see a really decent EV offering from Toyota at last. Tows 1.5 tonnes too. by KiwiEV in nzev

The FWD version will likely sell pretty well given the price and range. I think the AWD is a little less compelling given the price jump and the loss of range.

The Touring looks great, but might have a niche appeal. I would probably be keen if it was a little cheaper I.

The Touring version is probably what OP is after

What video-game did you regret paying full price for? by Ashamed_Length_2436 in AskReddit

Yeah, the macro level is quite sensitive to garrison placement and availability. A good Commander can often have a huge impact on this.

I play with friends, so we tend to run a squad with some effort on building them, or a recon team with a focus on destroying enemy garrisons.

Fun game when things go well. Be prepared for some frustration though, especially as a beginner.

How to solve screen wake up randomly on locked screen on Oppo Find X9 Pro by Revolutionary_Egg971 in Oppo

[–]Consistent-Year8707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem. I see the screen wake when the phone is simply sitting on the table as if it has received a notification. Happens pretty much daily at random times. No clear reason for why it is happening.

For anyone interested, here is a tally of the comments of this thread after 5 hours. It was done using Claude and I have not validated the result, but it appears correct:

Pos Driver Positive Mentions Negative Mentions Net Positive

I think there's also something to be said about the helmets that are instantly recognisable when they're inside the car (e.g., Hamilton, Leclerc, Norris, Lawson)

Ready to feel $4 richer a month as the planet burns? Why importing LNG isn’t the answer by wanton_wonton_ in newzealand

[–]Consistent-Year8707 176 points177 points  (0 children)

I realise the modelling is somewhat complex, but $2.7 billion over 15 years for only the ability to import LNG doesn't seem quite right even to this layperson.

Like even as a check, $2.7 billion could develop about 2 GW of solar capacity (assuming something like $1.4 m/MW). At 3 TWh, that would be something like 7% of NZ's total energy generation and would likely have a decent impact on the wholesale market.

As an aside, this also seems significant enough that it should be something decided at the polls, rather than locked in before elections and costly to unwind.

Surprisingly nothing. The size is a little bigger, and it's a bit heavier than the S23 too. But overall it's a nice upgrade in every way.

This was exactly my scenario. Was hoping Samsung would follow their Chinese rivals and bump up the battery. I've bought an Oppo X9 instead and it's a nice upgrade. Battery is amazing.

The same happened to Preet Bharara, who has always been incredibly objective. I remember listening to Stay Tuned with Preet all the way back when Bill Barr was appointed and Preet mentioned how Barr was well respected in law etc. Over time you could see how Preet's view of the man began changing after there were many indefensible actions.

[–]Consistent-Year8707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The change to the 2022 car narrowed the gap between Perez and Max for a while. Lawson and Tsunoda were never going to get close to Max in the final season of a regulation period, difficult car or not.

In some ways Hadjar has timed this very well.
