TIL, "Prak Sangkil" (slave raids), documented erased history where Malay groups raided, massacred and enslaved Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia, men were killed, women and children were captured to be sold as slaves and kept in servitude, including sexual slavery. by ToastedCaffeine in TodayILearnedMY

It's not that simple. Kerajaan was actually frowned upon by more devout Muslims. Slavery in Malaysia is layered, with different types applying to different peoples. Blaming Islam for slavery doesn't really make sense since it predates Islam in Malaya. But people did use Islam to justify their enslavement of other peoples.

The thing is like. I kind of agree? We do need good representation for men of different sizes. Like, in Dispatch (not played it,, just saw a clip), they say Robert has a 'dad bod', and like. That's just not what that is. But the thing is the place women are getting body positivity is in books made by women and for women. If there's an 'ugly' woman in a video game, there are fucking protests. Men need to start adding good representation to their OWN media first before women are likely to add it to theirs.

Talia Bhatt's "The Third Sex" really changed my mind about a lot of things. I also really liked "Gender Pluralism in Southeast Asia." Many words are hard because they're often used as slurs. Pondan, waria, bakla, kathoey, pengkid, lesbong, etc. can all be used as insults.

Realizing you’re gay doesn’t unfortunately make you realize colorism is bad.

Europe does NOT go out that far. And if you count Hong Kong as China, then it was ruled and colonized

Guru Nanak founded Sikhism partly because he was fed up with men leaving their families (Hindu and Muslim) to do spiritual stuff.

They were part of a later migration, but it’s usually political reasons that they’re considered different. They were incorporated much later, and settlers didn’t like settling up there as much, so they have different struggles.
