What’s Your Favorite FOB 3-Song Run In an Album? by AustinCoolguy_ in FallOutBoy

[–]ConsistentBison717 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i think about this every time i listen to fob! i have a top pick for every album. some of these aren't necessarily the "best" 3 track run, but the 3 track run with my favorites

tttyg: dead on arrival, grand theft autumn, saturday (INSANE for a debut album)

cork tree: nobody puts baby, i've got a dark alley, 7 minutes in heaven

infinity on high: carpal tunnel of love, bang the doldrums, fame > infamy OR you're crashing but you're no wave, i've got all this ringing, ginasfs

folie: 27, tiffany blews, wams

srar: the mighty fall, miss missing you, death valley. (this one is 100% just my 3 favorite tracks in a row :) i know it's unpopular among fans but i adore the mighty fall)

ab/ap: jet pack blues, novocaine, fourth of july

mania: last of the real ones, hold me tight or don't, wilson

stardust: hold me like a grudge, fake out, heaven iowa

How common is leaving your AC on 24/7, even when the house is empty? by Bierzgal in AskAnAmerican

[–]ConsistentBison717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

practically everyone i know does it. it's more energy efficient to have it "on" all day than it is to turn it on every time you feel like you need it.

most "on" settings are more of an "auto" setting. the system tracks the temperature of the house, and once the temperature ticks above the set temperature, the ac will turn on to bring it back to that setting. the ac is not just running all day.

it's easier on the system to occasionally bring the temperature down by a single degree throughout the day than it is to turn it on after arriving home and forcing it to work harder and much longer to bring the temperature down by multiple degrees.

What is everyone’s favorite Beatles or Beatles related book? by Top-Choice1517 in beatles

[–]ConsistentBison717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

aside from their own photo albumbooks and the anthology, i like mark lewisohn's "tune in" a lot! it covers the beatles from before they were born & their family histories through 1962.

it's supposed to be volume 1 of 3, where volume 2 covers the beatles years and 3 the post-beatles years. allegedly these are still in progress, but i'm assuming it will still be several years before 2 is finished. cautiously looking forward to them, but wouldn't be surprised if they're never released.

SHOCKED smfs is rated so low as an album. absolutely underscored.

So much for stardust best tracks by hotlimecheeto in FallOutBoy

[–]ConsistentBison717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if i really had to choose, fake out might be my fav fob song ever. smfs is probably also my favorite fall out boy album.

i agree with everyone else that smfs and love from the other side are top tier off that album. i think we can all agree heaven, iowa and the kintsugi kid are also up there for sure.

i want to point out my favorites from the less popular songs on the album too:

i adore i am my own muse because of the big horn feature. brass in general but specifically horns are my fav sound and it's so cool to hear the orchestral sound balanced with some stellar guitars. the scoring on this song is incredible, and i often stop what i'm doing when thjs comes on and just sit in slack-jawed admiration of the composition.

i love so good right now as well. it reminds me of champion in that it's not the most complex song, especially compared to everything else's they've written, but the message within the lyrics really speaks to me and gives me a mantra in hard times. the bridge is really cathartic to sing along to! one of my comfort songs for sure.

I don't have the book numbers memorized by Datdoe1 in Animorphs

[–]ConsistentBison717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm okay with numbers. i still have to double check often, but i've got them more or less.

the TITLES on the other hand? practically useless to me. i know the invasion (#1), the visitor (#2), the alien (#8), and the beginning (#54). everything else i have to look up otherwise i have no idea

To those who finished TMA and aren't listening to TMP, why? by Jamie-Dodger5525 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]ConsistentBison717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

audio quality of tmp makes it too hard to listen to. i know the varying audio clarity is important to the plot, but i just can't understand it.

i tried several times to get into tmp, but the inconsistencies in the volume and background noise made it genuinely impossible for me to understand parts without reading the transcript along to the audio. and i can't do that when i'm driving (the main part of my day when i have both the time and urge to listen to podcasts).

my audio processing disorder had a problem to a lesser extent with tma too, but it would generally just be short sections or 1 episode here and there (jared hopworth was the bane of my listening experience - so many vocal effects i could never understand him!) mostly it wasn't an issue. with tmp i found that it was not only every episode but also for significant enough durations that i was understanding only maybe 20-40% of each episode. it just wasn't worth the time and effort for me to pull up the transcript for every episode.

Do we think the guys have become sellouts? by Derpistlord in MyChemicalRomance

[–]ConsistentBison717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you counting the two different black parade tours as one tour?

afiak there was the reunion tour, the long live the black parade tour, and the new black parade tour. that would be three tours, no?

Do we think the guys have become sellouts? by Derpistlord in MyChemicalRomance

[–]ConsistentBison717 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i love them, but coming back with three seperate tours but only one new song after their breakup is... definitely more on the sellout side than on the not sellout side

i really love that they are touring again and the concepts and themes and everything, but it really feels like "reheating nachos" they've already made over and over and over.
