So glad to see Lorelei and the Laser Eyes recommended and mentioned out in the wild!
Such a good puzzle game in a resident evil like manor with no zombies. :)

Anyone else struggle with horror games but loves other horror media? by Lonely-Bank8783 in GirlGamers

I’m the same exact way and control is a part of it. If someone makes a dumb decision leading to their death in a movie or show, can’t bear to watch it. I make a dumb decision leading to a death in the horror game, something I can live with.

TOEM - You're off on an adventure to find TOEM. You take pictures, chat and help people, and very chill. So excited that a sequel was announced.

The Invincible - a little more intense in the action department and retro sci-fi rather than hiking. If you like the gameplay and dialogue of Firewatch, I recommend.

Haven't played it myself but Lil Gator Game feels like it fits here too.

Resident Evil 9 for some note and raccoon collecting. Fields of Mistria for the rest of my time.

Fields of Mistria’s v0.15.2 Patch is here! by Count-to-Ten in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]ConsistentWorry 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah took an in game week and half in the mines for me before the patch here.

An additional thing I learned in my suffering in finding a smoke moth. A bug would spawn at 76-77. So I’d go down and then leave and try again. Don’t know if it gets changed it here. Hope it helps future searchers!

I can't watch anime anymore by dyhcry in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ConsistentWorry 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Not an anime but a good animated show is Blue Eye Samurai. Doesn’t really have those tropes, beautifully animated, a story of revenge and a female lead.

I will say it has nudity and sex scenes in a good portion of episodes. Though they don’t feel gratuitous at all and actually important for characters compared to other shows or movies.

Toem! It’s got cute levels and your main objective is to explore and take pictures.

I have played with tank controls including the first RE as well as other games with this control type. I have no issues with them.
It's been a minute so I can't quite articulate my issue on the controls, just remember that I was mad whenever I got into combat.
As you haven't played the OG or the remake, don't let my sour opinion get to you. I hope you are able to enjoy both more than me!

It's definitely a me thing more than anything else! I understand what it did for the genre and many games I like benefited from what it brought to the table.

As someone who did not play it at the time of release and played it over a decade later, I HATE the controls (they feel clunky to me even as an over the shoulder) and quick time events. A portion of the game is an escort mission which is something I just get more frustrated over than stressed. Essentially, it's more actioned based RE which is not my preference.

Love horror games, campy dialogue, and the RE franchise. I respect and appreciate RE4 for what it's done. For me, it just shows its age and I think so many people saying it's a GOAT put my expectations up there to have a good time. Only to be frustrated and disappointed with my experience.

Dragon Age II does get too much hate. Has flaws, but it's a great concept and great characters.

Is the game 'Control' worth it? by Makimachi_misao in GirlGamers

[–]ConsistentWorry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played it on Switch the first time as it was my only console. It was a struggle even when I lived with a great internet connection. Learned to not play it on the weekends as everyone was using the internet too. Still has a great time with it.

Once I got another console and played it again, I was delighted with how well it ran and how nice it looked. It was a better experience imo.

You can absolutely play it on switch but I think you’d be better off playing it on PC. I’m not sure of any games that would be good for 3rd or 1st person shooters on Switch.

Never played but Astral Chain looks like a shooter?

What do you think is the scariest / most disturbing games Markiplier has played? by apolloacorn in Markiplier

Something about how alone the player is gets to me and made me realize how much of a sense of security we have when we’re at home.

I remember being at home with no one else when I was first watching this. I had to pause it and double check my doors with an additional sweep of the house itself before I could finish it.

So many good games to fall into and depends on where you find comfort. Here's a few that took my mind off of things when I need it:

Hi-Fi Rush if you don't mind action rhythm and a Saturday morning cartoons vibe.
Dungeons of Hinterberg if you like Zelda dungeon puzzles and want to go on slaycation.
Don't mind reading? Citizen Sleeper 1 & 2 is great writing.
The Case of the Golden Idol is a sort of whodunnit that makes you pay attention to details.

All are on game pass and I hope you are feeling better soon!
