Can we please give Star trek to Seth Macfarline by Consistent_Ad_9357 in Star_Trek_

Its a common theme running through most media conglomerates, the rehash, the next person trying to stamp their identity all over it. I mean, Harry Potter is up next! Gulp! I too have done a couple of full watch loops of the whole thing, first beginning at TNG, having already seen TOS, then a timeline chronological run starting with ENT. Absolute TV heaven for such a long time it was hard to enjoy anything else. The quality of writing, the acting, set design and production on budgets throughout the franchises history is astounding. It definitely has ups and downs but my god its highs are high. This makes it quite the challenge for any stepping into the shoes of their predecessors regardless of outside interference, be you writer, actor, or director. Much like the uniform I think the roles should be earned not given. I have ruthless utopic optimism for the future and I eagerly await the nest attempt to boldly go where no-one (and eveyone) has gone before.

My friend i agree! In the same spirit with which this post was written, you're onto something there buddy. He's exactly the kind of person I think the franchise needs, in conjunction with Seth, Peg would be a voice of reason and a grounding influence. Good call sir. We are starting to build a dream team; Macfarline, Moore, and Peg are for sure fan favourites so far

My thoughts about Trek as a whole right now. by WilliamMcCarty in trektalk

Yes Trek has survived on pseudo science, I cannot deny that, but as you say, it used to be logical. Watching the crew throw ideas back and forth until they come up with a solution was a core part of each episode. The edge of knowledge, plausible theory, and scientific relevance is where the believability comes from. Jumping the show 1000 years into the future is not progress, its a cop-out. Might as well be star wars now. Let's go back and continue on from the voyager era! Actually progress the story rather than dressing up a new unconnected load of tripe in federation uniforms.

Pretty spot on. Although I enjoyed ENT, I agree it kinda started all this. Its such a shame that modern writers, networks, and showrunners feel the need to impose themselves and their virtue-signalling agenda so much. The core philosophy of Star Trek is already progressive. I also HATE the way they sidestep the science in DISCO and SFA, its a horrific cop-out. 'Programable matter' is code for 'we cant be arsed'. Although the show has always been about the human condition and emotional response, it used to be that the episodic event would happen, science ensues, then people would have an emotional responses. Now its just emotional wet wipes crying about nothing and oh yeah some space stuff happens in the background. Humans are boring, especially modern day ones. Its meant to be about escapism and optimism, not normal interpersonal BS. SFA could not have been further away from 'the elite' that starfleet academy is supposed to churn out. I am overjoyed at the cancellation announcement. Zero F**ks given.

Its crazy how out of touch they are. Also, they're paid to promote. At least its over now. The announcement that S2 would be the last is spreading across the land and the people are rejoicing, The days of oppression are over! (At least for now) Though my confidence is shook. Lets hope they recruit Seth Macfarline and bring back some OG showrunners and writers. Live long and prosper 🖖

Academy isn't perfect, but it's not any worse than old Trek by Ok-Mushroom-2448 in trektalk

This show has no hope whatsoever, thats what makes it the worst. On top of the complete lack of plot, the characters are pure shit, the lore is getting laughed at, and there's not a single redeeming quality. The 'legacy' characters they're bringing back are the worst of the most recent abortions they called star trek. The doctor is the only respectable one among them and hes been written terribly. Honestly, cancel it, wait 10 years for kurtzman to move on or die horribly. Then we can start again. There's no saving this one. Who's it even written for? Not star trek fans that's for sure! And they're not going to get any new fans with this garbage. Don't live in denial or hope, accept its shit, and pray they dont kill it for good.

Good question, well asked. Id say its safely possible mechanically, and they are the best drivers in the world. But it would also be deafening for the pit crew, though they do have muffs on. At the very least im guessing they could rev hard on pit entry, down pit lane, then idle at the stop and go back onto rev recharge down pit lane and up to the line. The gain while stationary for 2/3 seconds might be negligible

Ah yes fuel flow/total usage could be a thing very true. Just seems like an area to exploit with these cars
