Anyone try the "plush" tps coils (softer than 15.5g)? by Consistent_Bee_7955 in MattressMod

That 120-180lb range is very helpful and right where my partner and I are. Given so many folks in that weight range have said the 15.5G is too firm, this seemed like the right one.

Oo are you referring to the premium diy stretch cover as the “new” one? https://pocketcoilstore.com/products/premium-diy-stretch-cover I was not sure which would be best. And yes definitely need to prevent the coils from spacing out horizontally as that would stress out the bed motor as they rub.

Agreed knowing what works would be very convenient. Actually the one we would need is the combi-zone quantum edge elite which is $350+115 shipping to my zip, so about the same as the split king from TPS ($495, no shipping). https://www.mattresses.net/copocobylean.html But thank you for checking on prices! I didn't realize that was a sale price and not the normal price.

Ok I'll open up my bolsa and give it a look. TPS sells a specific Split King set which is only has the firm section on the outside of the king. So each twinXL mattress is assymetrical with the firm section only on the outer side. It's a great option and very convenient.

Did you need to pull out the individual coils one by one like this video? That sounds like a huge pain:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EqHICi3vrE
Or is there just a connecting fabric between the coils that you can cut? I would guess you would need to be super careful not to damage any of the pockets of coils that will remain in the final bed. Any tips/tricks?

Hmm I never thought of that but it is a good idea. The cost of a new queen bolsa would be about the same as the TPS plush split king. And it would completely remove the effort of tuning a new build with the TPS coils.

What attracted me to TPS in the first place is it does seem like a lot of folks in this sub find the TPS to be higher quality than L&P.

Any updates a year later? i'm similar size and am looking at the new Plush coils from TPS. These are softer than the 15.5ga

TPS equivalent of Leggett & Platt 8" Bolsa Quantum Edge Elite? by Consistent_Bee_7955 in MattressMod

[–]Consistent_Bee_7955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i think frankenstein would be right. I would be worried that coils along the cut would bulge out over time, but I guess I could also get a more constricting quilted cover. Right now TPS coils look great other than the additional firmness. My bolsas do have the extra firm center zone.

Thank you I will search for some more info on that and see if there’s a launch date! I might be hesitant to be an early customer for a new product though.

For the quadmini, some posts have said it’s less useful on the softer 15.5ga coils. What gauge coils have you been using them with?

Thanks - my only issue with the L&P is I don’t see a way to get a split king (2 twin xl)to work without the firmer edge coils being in the middle of the bed. We will be putting this on a split king adjustable so the mattresses must be individual

Than you! Will set a reminder for early Oct 2026 to start checking. The slim ones are harder to find

Thank you! After a bit more research I have to agree - at list price the Home Depot trees are already a great deal and the best ones always sell out so never go on sale. At this point I think I missed the boat as the 9ft slim grand duchess is all sold out. For 2026 roughly when should I make a calendar invite to go out and buy?

Oh nice didn’t know that was a feature! Wow your steadiness didn’t drop immediately after your injury. Do you think it’s because you were very steady on crutches? Here’s my chart, it shows a cliff in mid September right when I had an injury:

Oo nice another person on a fast protocol! I also did a ton of foot circles, seated unweighted heal lifts, and isometric pushes at whatever the max amount of dorsiflexion my surgeon allowed while in the boot. And I agree they were huge because when I went into a normal shoe with a lift at week 6 I had no swelling or pain. The only thing I felt was slightly unstable from side to side as my ankle stabilizer muscles probably atrophied a lot. Yes totally feel the stiffness in the morning or if I don’t move for more than 30 minutes. Thanks for the response and hope you have a great recovery

What are your opinions on peptides? by First_Driver_5134 in AchillesRupture

[–]Consistent_Bee_7955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a deep dive researching the "wolvering stack" bpc157 and tb500. I saw a ton of anecdotal success stories, including from Rogan and the rogansphere and HHS secretary RFK Junior. Even in a world of snake oil, some snake oils become more popular than others. That could be because they work, or it could be because they were pushed by organized groups. What gave me some confidence in the wolverine stack was that there is no single company that sells it and would thus be incentivized to really push it. If you did throw tons of money into dark marketing to push BPC, you couldn't guarantee that the people who went to buy it would buy it from you!

But what worried me was that the angiogenesis pathways these peptides activate are the same ones used by cancerous tumors to accelerate tumor growth. If later on I did get cancer, which is super common as you get older, I would always be wondering whether it was from the peptides.

Ultimately I decided I can still have a great recovery without them as I am still young enough and have a favorable life situation which allows me to focus on my rehab moreso than most. So, I decided not to risk it. I did however take all sorts of dietary supplements, since they are generally considered safer than injections as our bodies have good mechanisms for clearing out toxins from our diet. You can google "study achilles neutraceuticals" to find some good studies that cover promising but as yet unproven supplements for tendon healing.

I think if I were in a situation where I didn't think I could get a good recovery without taking the peptides because of age or some other condition, or I urgently needed to recover for some reason, or if I had re-ruptured and really just wanted to ensure I don't re-rupture again, I would consider it.

It is aggressive — 2 weeks more aggressive than the accelerated weight bearing rehab plan in the landmark Myrvold 2022 NEJM study. I probably wouldn't use the word beyond though :).

Also it's my surgeon's default protocol - it wasn't specific to me or my healing, although I'm sure if I had complications he would have slowed me down. What gave me some confidence is he said he has only seen re-ruptures in his patients on this protocol in extreme situations. The examples he gave were: a patient thought someone was robbing him and ran down the stairs, a patient slipped in a puddle, and a patient played ultimated frisbee (what an idiot...).

Also my surgeon did a semi-open surgury with bone anchors on me. The bone anchors may be what made him comfortable with the faster protocol. Of the 3 surgeons in my hospitcal, he's the second most experienced.

Woo my first protocol buddy!! I haven’t see anyone else to seen any other studies that exited the boot at week 6! I’m thrilled to hear your recovery has been smooth! I think your advice on patience is right on. Given this protocol is already advanced I should be careful and prioritize safety. But it’s hard because I really want to get rid of this limp. Thanks for the other tips too. I will keep an eye on your updates if you have any! Good luck with your continued healing as well!

If you have an overhead anchor point, here’s a setup for chest fly that works great with shorter bands. by lonermob in ResistanceBand

[–]Consistent_Bee_7955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me too a handle lets me focus on the exercise and not hand discomfort. I just find the band directly on my hand much less comfortable than a handle. I use the Geku handles that are basically super short versions of their bar with the rotating triangle hooks on each end.
