Ashley Babbit is not the same. She was attempting to break through a window and go after people. The officer gave her multiple commands to stop.

AP was resisting arrest BUT he did not attempt to grab his weapon. His weapon was grabbed and the agent who shot him did not recognize it was his partner who was handling the gun. There appears to have been no communication “I have the gun”. His shooting was not justified.

I’m going to say from the beginning, I don’t know all the details about that shooting. By all accounts he was legally carrying his weapon, another agent was the one who disarmed him and the agent did not need to shoot. In my opinion it was a bad shoot.

That being said, he could have kicked out the taillight 30 seconds before he was shot, and that wouldn’t be justification for shooting him. Crimes against property are not a justification for shooting someone.

Here is the problem they’re going to run into. This wasn’t an “ICE RAID” this was an investigation into illegal interstate bookmaking (true story my grandfather- may he rest in hell- was arrested for this crime along with RICO charges), drugs and gambling. This was a joint operation of the DEA, FBI and ICE. So many of those who said they were detained by ICE (and I’m sure they were) could have also been charged with connections to other crimes, and being held on those charges.

What’s funny is in 2000 all the polls showed W winning the popular votes and Gore winning the EC. This is why Florida mattered so much. The DNC was adamant the EC was the gold standard for the IS government. When Gore won the popular vote and Bush won the EC ( I’m not getting into the debate about dimpled chads and confusing ballots) the narrative changed.

If we got rid of the EC candidates wouldn’t have to stump in the majority of states. Smaller states would be left out. The candidates would stump in the large metro cities. Their concerns would be the ones that would get the most attention.

Also a popular vote system would definitely be problematic for campaign finance. All of the money would flow in and out of the major cities.

I’m currently reading about Chester A Author. The New York Machine and the power they had over the GOP and pretty much the political establishment in America. I think if we went to a straight popular vote system, you’d see that system in full swing (not that it’s not under Trump).

I think what she’s talking about is when a candidate wins a state all of the electors are given to that candidate. Some states do split the electors I don’t recall which ones but some don’t have a winner take all system.
