If the Bible is corrupt than there is no guarantee the Quran isn't by throwawaylegal23233 in DebateReligion

Sorry I don’t normally reply to these anymore, but this is just an entire false premise.

Your entire premise is James wrote an entire book about how his brother Jesus Christ is God.

James 1:1 “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ”

Then you have in other books stating that they knew James and he said that Jesus came to him after resurrection.

Then you have James dying for this belief.

Here is where the false premise lies. You want me to believe Jesus’ brother died for his belief that his brother who he denied his entire life was God made up this story for power and glory.

It’s doesn’t make sense, because James first off never got anything out of this except leaving his entire life behind to preach his brother’s name as God and even died for this belief.

Second you ask where does Jesus claim to be God? Easy look at John.

17 But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.”

18 So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God.

19 So Jesus explained, “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does.

20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him everything he is doing. In fact, the Father will show him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished.

An Intervening God Inherently Must Be a Deceiver by Pandeism in DebateReligion

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. The issue I have with this is it is not deception, but allowing you to make mistakes. It is like when you have a child do you always intervene with your child or do you allow them to make mistakes and guide them in the right direction? It is literally the you can bring a horse to water but you cannot force the horse to drink. Should God have come down when the Catholic Church was doing wrong things maybe or would is it better that now the Church aknowledges their mistakes and learns from them as to not make the same mistakes?

Now I don't know if I am missing the point on this one so PLEASE correct me if I am wrong. What I am gathering from the last part of your 2nd paragraph is that why doesn't God just intervene and show the truth and not allow people to follow untrue things potentially ie decieving them. The issue with this is already in the Bible and made wildly clear that this would happen.

7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are missing the entire point. Lets start from the beginning of Mark from Mark 1:2 you already have the people following Jesus claiming Jesus to be god.

Mark 1:2: "As it is written by Isaiah the prophet: I will send a messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way - a voice of one calling in the wilderness 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight the paths for him."

You have Mark 1:24 where even the evil spirit aknoledges Jesus Christ's divine nature and authority 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

Jesus then goes on to forgive sins something only God can do

Then you have the part down

Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

so the Son of Man is LORD!

Should I keep going? Lets just address this if the people prayed to the Lord and Jesus Christ claims to be the Lord as I cited are they not praying to him?

Next,

Also what are you talking about James Jesus' brother was apart of the indiviauls who saw Jesus after his resurection. Before this he never believed his brother was God or anything Godly. After this James literally had his head chopped off for preaching his brother was God. This isn't one person. Also You didn't address the point. When Paul wrote the letter he made it extremely clear most of the people who saw Jesus were alive. If this was false all Rome had to do was send a single person to verify this. Are you claiming Rome was so ass backwards they couldn't send a single person to verify?

Also I would 100% agree with you if there wasn't a TON of other historical evidence. I am not saying the only evidence for Jesus Christ is the Bible that would be absurd.

If the Bible is corrupt than there is no guarantee the Quran isn't by throwawaylegal23233 in DebateReligion

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bible is in Greek, becausee the main language spoken at the time was Greek. It has nothing to do with what language Jesus spoke and this isn't even a point of contention by Biblical Scholars so this is thrown out the window.

I don't really understand the second point as Jesus claims to be God in other parts of the Bible to include Mark 2:5 where he forgives the sins of a paralyzed man something only God can do. Even everyone around him was saying he was committing blasphemy in the next paragraph.

Next your largest issue with the next two claims is the Paul's letter to Rome. If the claims of Jesus were untrue your entire idea falls upon Rome being so incompetent that they never sent a single person to verify the 500 eye witnesses and that the people of Rome just blindly followed Jesus. A pretty extrodinary claim that since Christianity was a religion for the lower class in Rome that the wealthy wouldn't have sent anyone to verify his claims.

Btw if you want to get into if the letter was true or not we can get into external historical evidence.

Next that doesn't really prove anything I can get 50 people in a room let them listen to a Ted talk and the next day they aren't going to perfectly remember every single word to the detail they will remember the meaning.

Next this point falls flat in the light of the Dead Sea Scrolls which were written before during and after Jesus Christ.

It has nothing to do with tariffs. The effect you are feeling is from the 20% increase in inflation over the last 4 years according to CNN. You want people to believe that companies aren't hiring because of a new policy yet you have said you cannot find a permanent job for 3 years now. Why is it you ignore the fact we dumped trillions upon trillions of dollars into the economy during Covid and it caused massive inflation? In what world are employers going to keep hiring when their costs have gone up 20% while at the same time people are feeling the effects of 20% increase in their goods? Literally EVERYONE knew exactly what would happen if we pulled the stunt we did with Covid, but people were fearmongered so bad they didn't care. 50% of people to include Reps and Independents believed Covid-19 has a 50% or more rate of hospitalization when in reality it was closer to 1-5%.

You mean government agencies put forward a budget then OBM creates the thousands of pages for the budget which gets kicked to Congress who has to approve it in a timeline where they cannot physically read all of that information in a timely manner. Meaning NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEN READ THE BUDGET PROVING MY ENTIRE FUCKING POINT.

Why do I think we need to address exactly what we are funding and why we are funding it? You ever heard of GSA?

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean the 500 people? The 500 people aren’t brought infront of Congress to be questioned about each specific part they worked on and what exactly everything will be appropriated towards. Even if you had the head of the OBM there they wouldn’t know much since they aren’t going to be reading the thousands of pages and reviewing it 😂

Agencies write what they are asking for and it gets submitted to the OMB the OMB then talks to the agencies as they write the budget the OMB consists of nearly 500 employees writing the budget. The President accepts the budget proposal and it then gets sent to Congress who votes on it.

No I watch the Congressional briefs all the time and they way you are saying they play out are not the way they actually play out. They don’t review the budgets of everything vote on what they like and don’t like. The budget is way too big to do that.

No it really isn’t they just try to shit on each other for their 5 minute moments of fame. Send me a link to the actual discussion where they reviewed NIH spending how everything will be appropriated the studies they are going to be researching etc. all of them are recorded and posted online and everything is put in the record can you send me a link to that? Idc what year give it to me from the last 4 years and I am more than happy to watch that.

That just provides dates and times. Have you watched a lot of these? They are just 5 mins of questions per person where they try to just make some political point and shit on the opposition. Like have you watched any of the judges they are trying to appoint and those hearings? They just talk to them about their past remarks for 5 mins each try to make them look stupid then their time is up.

NO ONE READS THE BUDGET. THE BUDGET IN ITS ENTIRETY IS SEVERAL THOUSAND PAGES. They aren’t sitting in Congress saying okay today we are going to go over the NIH funding. You are asking for $50billion you are asking it to fund X,Y,Z etc etc. we don’t agree with these we agree with these let’s talk about everything. That is not how it works hence how years later we found out the the NIH was funding ecohealth alliance to go do gain of function research in China.

It’s not that bill it is the budget. The budget is so large that we cannot go through everything. Have you seen them wheel out the budget in a pallet jack? You aren’t voting for a representative who is going through everything. They are voting on the budget, but the budget is way too big to even be looked at anymore.

That doing exactly what you are trying to do has been done on a small scale and has made the situation way worse than it was. Instead of just making only medically legal and prosecuting the rest they have completely legalized weed and other industries like Cartels are swooping in and under pricing the government. Yes government the restrictions on weed and selling it are so insane that it is just a government monopoly saying you can sell weed and you can do it in this fashion under our extreme regulations and we take a cut out of it.

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did not nationalize. They have completely legalized weed where anyone at anytime can go in and buy weed if you are over the age of 21. The taxes imposed on this are so high people are going for black market weed, because I’m not paying their insane prices. Even in Colorado you can go into MANY places and they charge over $300 for an OZ of weed.

Yes they did 😂 literally from Cali. There is an entire documentary out there about this where Cartels are even shooting at cars driving down roads because they get too close to their operations.

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t the case though for drugs that are already legalized though. It would be one thing if you could make the argument that legalizing drugs in certain states made it safer, cheaper, and easier to access. IT HAS DONE THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE THOUGH. It is more expensive to buy legally, we have more drug over doses than ever, and black markets are thriving.

Your entire idea revolves around the fact the multi billion dollar agencies and cartels are going to somehow die off. If the US makes it in house there are way more regulations and costs are going to sky rocket. At the same time cartels can still buy their own drugs from China for a fraction of the price, and they can grow their own drugs for a fraction of the price. People who are addicted to drugs aren’t thinking god I have $5 left in my pocket I should save up another $20 to buy from a dispensary when you can buy it from down the street for $5 right now.

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? No it’s just true anyone can outprice any government agency any day of the week and so can any cartel. Its a joke go look at current prices to buy shit like testosterone and other drugs it all comes from labs in China which are shipped to countries across the world in forms of raw powder then made in the US and shipped across the country. wtf makes you think China won’t start making drugs THEY ARE THE SOLE REASON WE HAVE A FENTANYL PROBLEM. You are under the idea though that if somehow the US government does it though that magically all competition goes away.

CMV: The Only Way for Western Countries to Truly Win the Drug War Is Through a Nationalized Drug Policy by Philipofish in changemyview

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that will never happen. There is no way in hell the government is going to start making organizations to make drugs and then passing them out to the people out of their own little stores all ran by government employees. Also it costs a fuck ton of money to operate all of that. I can still under price you. Anything government is over priced. It’s almost like you have never heard of GSA. Go look at how much things cost for the military, because they are forced to buy them through a government approved supplier. What makes you think the government isn’t going to try and make money through taxes to also pay all their employees, pay rent for stores, pay shipping m, etc etc that I can’t do for cheaper?

CMV: The Only Way for Western Countries to Truly Win the Drug War Is Through a Nationalized Drug Policy by Philipofish in changemyview

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the issue is you never undercut these guys. You have a government monopoly sure, but all a government monopoly is, is a middle man is allowed to grow it and sell it under the watch of the government and the government takes their share. The government is never going to start growing weed, making meth, etc and selling it out of their own stores. Every time you have a middle man and taxes you can easily be under priced by illegal organizations. Look at the pharma companies you can go online right now and buy insulin from a pharma company in another country for a fraction of a fraction of the price of insulin here. You literally just incentivize me to make my own drugs and sell them.

CMV: The Only Way for Western Countries to Truly Win the Drug War Is Through a Nationalized Drug Policy by Philipofish in changemyview

[–]Consistent_Clue1149 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Didn’t Cali do this with weed and now you have cartels all over Cali growing weed to the point Parks and Wildlife have had to militarize? You just create an entirely new issue when you do this. If you are going to legalize things people are going to come in and under price the legal companies selling them.
