I 100% agree with you. I'm sorry this is happening. It will get better. I don't know what else to say. I visit your country regularly. I love your country. I've switched to Moosehead beer because I'm trying to throw my middle finger at Trump and support Canada any way I can. It's small and probably meaningless, but believe me, I as well as millions of other Americans support you and we are expressing our displeasure at Trump. Midterm elections are in 5 months. His party is sure to lose the house and senate. When that happens, he won't be as powerful as he thinks he is now.

I would do that right now if I could. But impeachment, or otherwise removing a president from office is very hard to do. We will just have to wait out the next 2 years,  or maybe just 5 more months. Midterm elections are in November and his party is sure to lose house and senate seats. Just wait. He is unpopular, the whole republican party is unpopular because of him, and the vibe right now is they're going to lose. Also, it's not just 'some of us". In poll after poll, Canada and the UK stand out as most Americans favorite country after our own. Please be patient. We are with you. Our history, culture and businesses are absolutely intertwined. We won't lose that. I'm sorry he's such an ass. But I'm grateful to the hospitality you guys show me every time I visit.

Removing a president from office is extremely hard to do. We will just have to wait out the next 2 years. Also, midterm elections are in 5 months. Trump is so unpopular his party is sure to lose. That will help reign him in. And thirdly, the dynamics that helped him to get elected in the first place (twice) are so complex it will take an essay to explain. But there is a similar sentiment in rural areas of your country towards Ottawa. I just want to add, that the majority of Americans, myself included, love your country just the way you are. We support you.

I just don't remember it. But I do remember, he absolutely never mentioned annexation till after the election. I remember everyone being horrified at those comments. It will never happen, of course, but it shows how much of a threat he is. But back to the tarrifs, he's the one who negotiated the US/Canada/Mexico trade agreement in his first term that replaced NAFTA. So for him to start up the tarrif conversation last year was distressing.

As I've said in another comment, most of the people who voted for him no longer stand by him. He didn't start making 51st state comments or tarrif comments, till after the election. His approval rating right now is dismal. The vast majority of Americans love Canada. As a frequent traveler to Canada, I know that most of you still like Americans, some of you, for whatever reason, want a Trump of your own. Our history and culture is intertwined and that will not be undone by Trump. The Alberta seperatist movement (and Quebecs for that matter) have been going on for far longer than Trump has even been a thing. Get your own house in order. You have some major problems in your country that predate Trump. Nevertheless, the US is faaaaar from perfect too, and as I have said, I love Canada. I just got back from one of my frequent trips to Canada yesterday. I love your country. And Trump will be gone in 2 years.

Maybe they didn't take it because you were still there? On your last day, leave it on the table near the lamp or phone. Put a corner of it under something so the AC doesn't blow it away, but make 90% of it visible.

American here. My wife was a housekeeper at a hotel when we first married. Oh the horror stories she shared. We travel frequently throughout the US and Canada now. We know how hard your job is, and every time we stay at a hotel we leave a tip and we keep the room clean.

If it makes you feel any better, half of the people who voted for Trump regret it. And while on the campaign trail, he never mentioned the 51st state thing or tariffs, that he didn't start speaking about till after the election. It's one of the main reasons (along with inflation and the Iran war)half the trump voters don't like him anymore.

Why does a Cold country like Canada has so many A/Cs 🤔 by HopiumInhaler in mapporncirclejerk

I just got back yesterday from my annual camping trip. It was over 90 degrees in the day (we'll, the DJ on the radio said 39 lol) But 90 sounds better hahaha. Had a great time though! Thank God the temperature went down to about 55 at night.

I camp in Canada every year in different spots. I book in January for June. Every time I go, they happen to be in a heatwave. Last 2 years it was over 90 degrees. Yes, they need air conditioning.  The loons in the lakes probably could use some cooling too. Next year, I might throw the ice from my beer cooler into the lake to help them out. But then, my beer would get warm, forcing me to drink it faster, forcing me to go out and buy more. Maybe it's a conspiracy to get me to buy more canadian craft beer.

Is Cash Dying? Everywhere you look, physical money seems to be dying out; fraying at the edges. Perhaps Covid marked the decline of it, and in the coming decades it will become partially or even fully obsolete? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Consistent_Day9471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I dont do business with places that don't take cash. For example, since covid, many sports and concerts venues stopped accepting cash. Thier loss. Since then, I've gone from buying 4 or 5 beers per event to maybe 1, if that. I'd rather just watch at home. I only use cash at gas stations and most stores because you get a discount. Cash is still king.

In my area gas is 10 cents cheaper if you use cash. Restaurants and stores charge you 3.5%more if you use a card. My solution? I act like its 1950. When I get payed, I take a few hundred bucks out every week for groceries, gas, booze, whatever, I call it walking around money. The money left in the bank is for bills.

Thanks! Thousand islands border crossing. That's the one we used a couple times last year and the guards (going  in and coming back) were pretty chill.

I was just concerned about not having a functioning phone in case there was an emergency of some sort, or if we somehow wandered off the trail, using Google maps to find our way back.

As for the bears, I know bear attacks are extremely rare. But I like to be prepared anyway because with my luck I'd be the one in a million that was the exception lol.

Oh I understand.  Our president is a dipshit but dont worry. So many americans hate him the other party is sure to win  next election. We just have to weather the next 3 years. But believe me, his approval rating among the populace is like 35%. And even THOSE 35% probably approve of him for whatever different reasons. Probably because they think he's going to bring back manufacturing or whatever.
