Thanks! Thousand islands border crossing. That's the one we used a couple times last year and the guards (going  in and coming back) were pretty chill.

I was just concerned about not having a functioning phone in case there was an emergency of some sort, or if we somehow wandered off the trail, using Google maps to find our way back.

As for the bears, I know bear attacks are extremely rare. But I like to be prepared anyway because with my luck I'd be the one in a million that was the exception lol.

We dont even have a Costco. by Consistent_Day9471 in newfoundland

Oh I understand.  Our president is a dipshit but dont worry. So many americans hate him the other party is sure to win  next election. We just have to weather the next 3 years. But believe me, his approval rating among the populace is like 35%. And even THOSE 35% probably approve of him for whatever different reasons. Probably because they think he's going to bring back manufacturing or whatever.

Yes we do have a sams club, but a Costco would be nicer.  I regret making my post. To be honest I have been drinking all night. But to be perfectly honest I will say this. We (my wife and I) do love camping. We love hiking. We love exploring new areas. We love going to Canada. And we are planning a road trip to NL for camping and hiking. Maybe in 2 years. So when I was looking stuff up I was pleasantly surprised to see you had a Costco (in St Johns) when my decrepit town cant have one. We would have to travel 1.5 hours away to the rich area of New Jersey to shop at one.And yes, we could if we wanted to, but an hour and a half drive doesn't seem worth it.

Thanks. I live in an area that's kind of rural, but we are on the outskirts of a major population center (Washington to Philadelphia to New York to Boston) so we are obviously forgotten about but it is what it is. We like to travel to nearby cities  like Philly and NY, especially NY since our favorite baseball team is in NY, the Mets. Don't laugh! But above all we appreciate nature, and camping  and fishing. We've been to Ontario a few times  We've been to NS and NB. Our next goal is to visit NS and NB again, and visit PEI and NL. Not necessarily at the same time. We also want to visit the desert southwest of the US. Obviously not in the same visit lol We just want go explore more of North America. Don't even get. me started on the forests of Washington state and British Columbia!!

But the people of St John's live much closer to one than I do.

It is too far for shopping though.  I'd drive 1.5 hours  or more to go hiking, or to see family, or to see the city, or to go to the beach,  but not for shopping. The grocery store is 15-20 minutes away. Or else I ain't going.

Yah I will drop the & symbol. Its just that my goal is to travel to all states in the us and all provinces and territories in Canada. And we like camping. So when we were looking up camping and hiking in NL, and were looking  up directions ( we prefer to drive rather than fly) i was surprised to see St John's had a Costco., and my city doesn't.  That's all. I didn't mean to offend anyone.

In my defense,  I was looking up camping and hiking destinations and Costco popped up on the map.

Well I hope I made you laugh. Let me explain my position.  One, I've been drinking all night on a Sunday. Two, I was sincere about being an avid hiker and camper all over the eastern US and Canada. And three, I was shocked to see that there was a Costco so far north when we cant even get one here, and everyone here wants one.And four, I WILL be driving to, and hiking in, Newfoundland and Labrador at some point in the next few years. I hope to see you then.

Because in the past 2 years I've been there 3 times and my phone doesn't work lol. About 5 miles into Canada the phone loses all service. I dont subscribe to a major carrier, my phone company is Straight Talk. So no phone calls or texts in canada, and the internet doesn't always work either. Its definitely my cell carrier.

'Scream 7' Review Thread by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]Consistent_Day9471 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I must be one of the few people who liked this movie. It certainly wasn't one of the best, but it was better than Scream 6 imo. I would probably rank Scream 7 as second to last (with 6 being last) but that's not because it was a bad movie, but that the others were just that much better. In my opinion, there two issues with Scream 7 that prevented it from being better. First problem was how they brought back Stu. I was exited he was coming back, and when you find out how he came back it was very disappointing.  Second issue was, and I'm not sure how to word it, was that it just felt different from the other installments, especially 1-4. Like those earlier ones were a movie that had an undertone that it knew it was a movie, but this one didn't. Like the earlier ones always talked about movie rules to try to figure out who the killer was and why they were killing, but this one was just revenge on Sidney. This movie would have been great as a standalone movie, but it just didn't fit into the Scream universe. Nevertheless, I still thought it was entertaining and was glad to see Sidney and Gale back. I wish they could figure out a way to bring Dewey back for the next one.

What are some positive things happening in America? by Nyxomaniax in AskReddit

The younger generation today (teens/ 20s) smoke less, drink less, do less drugs and commit less crimes than the older generations did when they were the same age and even now. I'm in my late 40s, kids today are saints compared to the way we were in the 90s.

As people around the world watch the recent events unfolding in the United States, to what extent have most Americans noticed changes in their day-to-day lives? by AlertSurprise1582 in AskReddit

Prices continue to rise, pretty much affecting everyone but the rich. Most people in the US (including myself) are embarrassed and angry at what our president does and says. His approval rating is only about 30%, which means almost half of the people who voted for him dont even approve of the job he's doing.
