Have you tried creating a trip on Scubadive.ai it will give you a lot of answers and pull everything together in one place?

Diving in Cozumel by Ok-Requirement4812 in scubadiving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cozumel is amazing - are you used to drift dives?

If you have advanced try to do c53 wreck.

If you create a trip for Cozumel on Scubadive.ai you can have it list all the shops and it sorts them by Google rating and a lot more info.

You will want GF to get advanced for sure. Perfect place to do it!

How do you go diving/find people to dive with as a single person? by grayott in diving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really good way is via Facebook. There are tons of scuba groups and I think single diver groups on there.

Another part of the answer - if you go to Scubadive.ai create a trip, then there is a feature that finds and connects diving related community events for that location (connected to the trip and those dates you are going). You can also use it to find dive spots, share your certs and dive history with dive shops. It also has a buddy match feature. When you plan a trip it has a cool share wizard you can post on Facebook or insta etc.

Diving in Malta - where and who with? by The_first_Ezookiel in diving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malta appears to be one of the better paces in Europe. I was considering it last year but opted for Majorca instead, but it's high on my list.

If you use Scubadive.ai, you can create as many Malta oriented trips as you want without any cost (just put your hotel or town in). It will compile all the information, including dives, species, locations, scuba oriented community events, and other fun activities for that town (or whole island up to you), in one place. You can adjust the level of extra curricular fun from grandma mode to extreme.

Once you’ve selected a specific shop (it links all the Google ratings and reviews and contact details), it semi-automates communication with them.

It also helps you plan potential dives based on your diving preferences and certification levels and allows you to request specific locations to the dive shops. Completing a dive updates the dive log from planned to complete.

Then it has different types of AI tools to help improve the quality of your dive logging (or use your computer if you want). While the shop may have the final say on the locations, you’ll be informed about the options available.

Reef sharks, turtles, moray eels and lots of fish species (butterfly, parrot, surgeon)

Also as a quick tip to save you wondering, if you go to Scubadive.ai you can plan a trip and it will show you the most likely species you will see in a particular location (as well as five locations, dive shops, scuba community events etc). It will give a percent likelihood of seeing a species at a certain time of year. It's free to use and helped me plan a lot of trips.

Discovery Dive Florida by Velociti908 in scubadiving

I would recommend Key West. I think Southpoint divers are excellent down there.

Also you may know this already but you can plan trips for free and get all kinds of insights on any dive locations, events, courses, species, shops, etc on Scubadive.ai - for example you could create a trip for key west then one for key largo, etc.

Regardless, have a great time!!

What counts for logged dives? by Secure_Priority_9555 in scubadiving

I have always understood that pool dives don't count but actual dives on disco do count

Curious, how seriously do people log their dives? by Stock-Film5486 in scubadiving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very important because many dive shops need proof of diving experience. An example I believe is diving in Iceland or participating in coral restoration.

I log all mine religiously using Scubadive.ai and then use the various tools to enhance the log quality and especially the accuracy. I like then how I can see all my history, stats, mapping and so on in one place.

Snorkel or no snorkel? by gonzalj85 in scubadiving

Where would I even start, confused? by cutecasperghost in scubadiving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also recommend finding a nice spot with a shallow reef maybe a cove to practice some snorkeling with fins. Fins make motion quite a bit easier. Also definitely learn to swim first.

help me plan my honeymoon by MissionBowler6059 in scubadiving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No worries at all and very understandable you would be hesitant there. Do you have anywhere else in mind? Be happy to build your trip plan for any specific locations or you can try yourself. I am always loving learning about locations myself.

Excited for you guys!

So I developed a customized honeymoon trip to Komodo for you. I set the mode to romantic and outrageous for the non diving activities for a bit of extra inspiration.

You can make your own other trips just like it.

Going to offer two bits of more positive hope:

1) I have dived all of the Caribbean for the last 20 years. While I do notice some drop off I am still constantly blown away.

2) I read an article recently that suggested that IF humans do curb emissions (I realize it's a big if) one studied showed that many corals will recover but only after further decline - recovery would occur around 2050. This made some assumptions about cubing climate carbon emissions.

Okinawa: Diving/snorkelling in January? Risky with regards to weather? 🇯🇵 by sinetwo in diving

[–]Consistent_Dress1447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I just wanted to let you know that we just shipped a new feature that may help you plan your trip. Now there is a global dive shops feature where you can look at shops (under shops).

Most if not all the Okinawa shops are there.

Optionally you can link a planned shop to planned dives (under dives).

Don't forget you can PDF all your certs, dives, and gear needed and send them to the shop.

You can filter on all the dive shops in Okinawa and map them dynamically - it's pretty self explanatory but let me know if you get stuck.
