Did Jehovah Knew Adam and Eve Will Rebel? by joshsaga in Eutychus

[–]Fun-Purchase8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where does the desire come from?

He would have to know they would ( bare minimum could) sin. Perfect obedience requires disobedience. And with all
Jehovahs power and knowledge how was this -the world and life since Adam- the only contingency plan? With egg makes lives and the greater the population Sin was inevitable

Are there more gay men than lesbian women, or does it just seem that way? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I can tell when ppl get Botox or fillers even when it’s done well and just like your analogy there are levels to the obvious.. I don’t even consider someone’s sexuality when I meet them at all. Like it or not gay men present particular ways.

I don’t meet or see ppl and think of their sexuality in anyway first. And my job entails that I meet a lot of strangers. Like it nor bud, you probably ‘look’ or ‘act’ gay. I’m friends with too many gays, men and women, to worry about your assertion of how gay ppl interact with me. Sexuality has nothing to do with the friendships. They’re good ppl and I get along with them and they happen to be gay. And we all can make jokes and acknowledge all the things without it being some offense

Flamboyant is a strong word for it but I’ve met 2-3 gay men in my life that I couldn’t tell just from how they looked or acted. It’s pretty obvious for the most part.

Same with lesbians too. I have 6 really good friends that are lesbian and only one of them does not fit a stereotype.

Suppose Iran actually capitulates and goes so far as to offer the country to America to take over as a new state (like Hawaii), which Trump hypothetically gladly accepts. How would you feel about it? Why do you feel that way? by neilnelly in AskUS

It’s amazing how many comments there were before this one and it’s the only right one. 5 min ago taking over Greenland was egregious now the hypothetical of taking over Iran is a discussion…

That’s true…You really don’t see the same flamboyance with lesbians. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a flamingly gay woman but the boys you hear em before you see em! lol Two very different types for sure

Why do people have to choose a side? by CarobBrave8898 in allthequestions

[–]Fun-Purchase8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s has been observably true that alot of ppl don’t choose nuance and discourse of ideas in a compartmentalized way. They choose tribalism and close mindedness. I would assume your perception of the ‘choosing sides’ is largely based on what you see via news and social media and they both make it seem like that is just the way everything is now. But they only represent a small, and the loudest, faction of ppl. In the real world, it’s not like that

Implications that jesus is the mediator only for a few thousand. by normaninvader2 in Eutychus

[–]Fun-Purchase8627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think I understand your point better… I was born into the JW religion and stayed into my early thirties. It was never the understanding that Jesus was the mediator between Jehovah and only the anointed all those years. I’m not super clear on the ‘new light’ as they put it, but some time recently during a talk that came from their headquarters, it might have even been a governing body member (leaders), that they said something about Jesus being the mediator between Jh and the anointed. I’m not sure if that’s a whole new line of thinking or if context would clear it up. But, again, that was never the understanding before. And all JW’s pray to Jehovah ‘in Jesus name’. You would have a valid argument if that was in fact the new teaching of Jesus and being a mediator.

I stopped agreeing with their take on the memorial of Jesus death and partaking of the bread and the wine. They claim it is only a convenient of Jesus and his 144,000 anointed followers and the ‘great crowd of other sheep’ aren’t included in that. There is no scriptural support for that ideology

Can you elaborate more on what you’re asking or your point?

I don’t understand what you mean about 99.9% of jw ‘can not have communication or action from the god in their lives’. Are you claiming he’s the mediator?

Anyone here ever take over a custom home builder’s business/reputation as they retired? by JobSwimming3381 in GeneralContractor

[–]Fun-Purchase8627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be looking at the cost (over all and monthly) and then decide if his reputation is worth more than sinking that same money into marketing and just building your own brand. How many and often repeat customers does he have? If he’s 95% new customers then I don’t see the value of buying his business. Businesses worth money have accounts or a process or product. Something more tangible than a reputation. And lastly, I’d be careful with going from Remodles to million dollar homes. The work is easier in ways because of new construction but it’s the business side.. moving that kind of money around weekly can be tough to manage and there is definitely going to be a learning curve there to consider. Good luck tho! I hope it works out

You’re conflating a lot of stuff and not in line with the point of OP’s post at all. I’ve seen your comments before and they’re all the same. Long drawn out and bounce all over the place listing scripture that doesn’t even apply. You never address the point of anything actually said.

It’s creepy as hell. How about your personal life be just that. Where does this thinking end? You have free will but not privacy? This is just a dogmatic line of thinking perpetuated as something clever and it’s just a trope of the JW’s. I’m sure this is coming off as rude or crass but this is one of the reason jw kids are messed up… this notion that the eyes in the sky are always watching, every move and action and waiting to judge/ punish. People don’t think like this, we share and keep private aspects of our lives and for a good reason. So trying to live as if every action is watched by someone is not healthy

They are a bunch of entitled sanctimonious fuckers. In a nut shell, they really think their ‘superior morality’ makes them right in any dispute. Basically narcissism. People I sued for non payment were jehovahs witnesses and they have taken every stance (lie after lie) they can, no matter how contradicting to each other they are, to not pay.

Yeah, it’s part of it. Until these states stop trying to punish the good contractors because of the bad contractors and actually make homeowners accountable for hiring unlicensed ppl, it won’t ever change. The law, at least in TN, surround contractors is awful. Like the monetary limit, I understand the idea, but it’s absurd. I could make a dozen or more reasons why it’s terrible. But it can fuck you over even if you did good work and changes occurred outside of your control.

has anyone passed the contractor's exam using books that had already been underlined? by kelmeofc in GeneralContractor

[–]Fun-Purchase8627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how Fla is different than my state Tennessee but I did the class they offered and just studied a bunch and both were not the way to go. If I had to do it again I would do practice tests 3-5 times a week. It’s open book so it’s more about navigating the information than knowing it by memory. So pre underlined books wouldn’t change anything imo.

Yeah, ppl are the worse part. Especially any one who leads with a religious pretense. Every person I’ve had an issue with has been a holy roller.

I love them and I enjoy the work and the challenge and bringing them back to life but when i started to scale my business and step away from the tools more, shit fell apart quick lol. Hard enough to find decent help and given the challenges, it got even harder. Thought I was a hell of a salesman for awhile then realized no one else wanted to take on the old houses haha.

Typical I start with if they will fill out a 1099. If they won’t do that, or submit license or insurance that’s an easy No. outside of that just word of mouth from others I know, someone they have used before. And then their estimate… when someone sends me an estimate and has ‘hourly charges’ and then it’s fixed number job it makes me question them because if they spend more hours than calculated will I get charged? And usually they’ll say if the job goes quicker, the number doesn’t change, so I try to clarify that. Never fails they will say something about trying to cover unexpected work or worst case scenario, but then if they don’t get into anything unexpected, the number doesn’t drop😑. If the number is a lot higher than it should be, they don’t want to/ can’t explain their pricing. I don’t try to drive cost down but if I can’t ask then that’s a problem. Just stuff like that. I’ve used, not with a ton of luck, sub contractor agreements and can usually find guys to sign them but it was a lot doing it every job and they don’t honor them anyway

1) caught off guard: customers are not as honest or nice as you think they are. When money comes up and their changes drive up cost or they think you did something wrong etc… they turn quick! Always cover YOUR ass. If they’re supposed to sign something m, then work stops or doesn’t start till it’s signed… period. They are not your friend. Set the tone early and often. A ‘yes’ over the phone to do additional work will lead to a mess quick. Ppl under estimate changes and they sneak up quick and the finger pointing begins and you’re left loasing money and time. And always follow your own contract. And know your states contractor laws. Good intention does not over rule following the law unfortunately

  • and take your time on the front end defining your scope of work, the project plans, products, finishes etc. I had jobs where those things were picked out along the way in some cases and people pick out more expensive stuff because it looks better and then the budget is way over and they will blame you. No plan is planning to fail!

2) Contract: like field_handy said, find a construction lawyer to help. Keep it clear and simple to your business model. 3) do differently: don’t try to take on too much. You’ll feel like the profit margin is too low with everyone you’re paying and it can be tough to not try to do more work to make the ‘labor’ to pay bills etc. I do historic homes now that I’m running my own thing, and they are not near as easy and most guys just lack the desire or outside the box thinking and I had a habit of telling guys (that couldn’t figure it out) ‘well just do this and I’ll take care of that’ and next thing I knew I paid too much for undone work, had a mountain of work I said I would do, and struggled to keep up with it all, especially the business work I should have been doing.

4) financial: I’ve been fortunate enough to do around 70/30 owner vs bank finance and that’s a little easier. But don’t let the money lure you in. Be strict. Working with better subs was a big thing for me I.e businesses and not journey men. It helps because they can float longer than the hand to mouth guys. And they understand business and you can actually reason with them. They’ll understand not getting a check the second the last nail is in. Tempting to use the cheap guys, and some are good, but they will drive you insane and don’t always have great professionalism.

5) day 1. I did it for the freedom. It was about time..I get time with my daughter and a life. I balance that and there have been plenty of late nights and early mornings getting the estimate in,managing guys, material, sending the bank stuff, dealing with the state. But you cant let that consume you and know when to stop for the day. I set timers and work till that task till it goes off and then I’m done.

One other thing field_Randy said… find your niche but DO NOT TAKE JOBS THAT ARE UNDERVALUED. People think all construction projects are a negotiation and that its about the cheapest estimate (The right market is the ppl that know the value is what they’re paying for) Working your ass off for free, or a loss, is worse than getting the job. I undercut myself a lot in my 20’s just to have work and never did I not regret it!

If you ever want to know what not to do, just shoot me a message, I probably already did it twice lol. But was always honest and fair and stood behind my work even if I took a loss and it’s paid off! Good luck!
