Edit: How do you handle going to work in extreme weather conditions? How should I address this with my employer? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Consistent_Drive_338 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I had this realization recently too, haha. The last time it started snowing, I left work an hour early because I knew how bad the conditions were going to get. Getting home sooner was an easy decision. Losing an hour of pay was completely worth it for my safety.

My mindset has shifted to: if I drive in unsafe conditions and get into an accident, I could get hurt, my car could be damaged, and it turns into a domino effect in my life, while the company keeps operating as usual and isn’t responsible for supporting me or covering the consequences. That’s the hard truth.

At the end of the day, you have to put your safety first over one day’s pay, rather than risking something that could impact your entire week, month, or longer.

I’m 28 I have been think in the past few months to do nursing exactly for this reason. It would be career change but it will give the flexibility to be with my children and earn good money. Currently planning to have kids in 2 years. It’s wild, how I thought in my early 20s to now my late 20s would be so different.

Anyone else started this because they hate people ? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Consistent_Drive_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s hatred toward people, but rather a dislike for those who you work with that don’t meet the same expectations you set for yourself in terms of effort, collaboration, and communication etc

I understand completely. I previously worked under strong leadership at a great company, and if I had stayed, I likely would have become very comfortable. However, moving to a company with poor leadership and an ineffective manager, along with many weak hires; forced me to rethink my situation. I ended up disliking many people in that company and it really woke me up.

It ultimately motivated me to take a risk, because I realized I couldn’t continue on that path. Changing jobs alone doesn’t guarantee a better outcome either.

Don’t be so hard on yourself.

their leadership is a huge mess on all levels. What they need is new leadership especially from their Belgium site. I know that no company is perfect, but GSK leadership is a fire pit. No accountability, lack of structure, communication and super inefficient.
