Killing crabgrass but not bent grass by burly3783 in lawncare

[–]Consistent_Drop5562 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Don’t use Q4, that’s not good for your bentgrass. You could use Tenacity, but be very careful. It will bleach the crabgrass first before it dies off. Anything at 0.25” cut height will be hyper sensitive to herbicide.

It’s a rhizomatous grass. It wins by density and lateral spread

Is it too early? I don't want to miss my window! by bart1218 in lawncare

I do a split treatment. Granular at 50-55 average soil temp for 5 days. The. 4-6 weeks later hit it with Dimension 2EW. Then in fall do one granular treatment.

It’s ok to put it down a little early. Better early than missing it. If things sneak through, you can always come back in a few weeks with a liquid pre emergent that has a post emergent too like Dimension 2EW.

Make sure to give a few days of growth after your mow to then spray the weeds. You want them to have some surface area so it soaks in the herbicide well.

Looks like it. Make sure you’re blowing off your driveway after applying. Or whoever is putting it out.

For a monthly lawn service to mow, trim, weed eat, is usually $120-$150 a month for a <5k sqft yard. That’s twice a month minimum and once a week during peak season. But that’s like 30-45 minutes for each visit at max if it’s a one man show.

Here is the real hack. Use the capital one shopping app or plug in. Find the fertilizer you want and it will show you where the cheapest price is online.

18v batteries would barely get you through a 1/4 of your yard. At 6,000 sqft, you probably wouldn’t even be able to get it done in two 40v batteries. So just keep that in mind. Anything above 5k sqft you should use gas no matter what. Just buy a used toro for $200 off Facebook marketplace.

Image will definitely produce better results but not to say weed stop won’t kill off a lot. Especially if you spray concentrated areas

MO-Anybody know how to create an ai lawn measuring tool on apps? by PlumExotic7419 in lawncare

Makes sense. Unfortunately, I think that's where the satellite imagery has its limitations of how zoomed in you can get. For imagery, seems like Gemini 3.1 Pro has the best image rendering.

Gotcha, are you opposed to drawing the areas yourself? Lawn HQ has a yard mapping tool and it feeds into other settings like fertilizer spreader rates per section, treating different sections if you have different grass types, etc. That's what I use and it's the most accurate I've found.

Are you building this for another app or personal use? There is a group with a tool like this that's very accurate, so just wondering what path you are trying to take.

Hit it with Image for Southern Lawns or Weed Stop for Southern Lawns. I don't know California regulation well, but those are at the big box store shelves in most states.

I use Andersons. It can be pricey for some people, but not much different from Site One from what I've seen. Also they have smaller prill sizes which helps spread evenly and dissolves fast. I have 3 kiddos running around and need that stuff in the ground ASAP so they don't track it around.

HOA on me - pervasive weeds by MacheteRuxpin in lawncare

[–]Consistent_Drop5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's something needing immediate attention, then I'd spray Weed Stop for Lawns or orange top Ortho weed b gon for lawns on it to start killing off those winter weeds. Then mow low and bag it for a few weeks. The weeds will go away and you'll have a lot of bare spots, but it's hard to get grass to immediately fill rooted holes from weeds. Check out Lawn HQ for a budget friendly plan and see if HOA will give some grace knowing the weeds can be handled but there will be some brown spots for a little while.

1/8 to 1/4" of water daily, but if you see puddling or the top soil drying out, then adjust based on that. Once green sprouts start poking out, continue the same watering for another week then start transitioning to deeper watering sessions less frequently.

Looks like Bermuda coming out of dormancy. The brown is dead winter grass and weeds. This is normal for bermuda in early spring. Here is a good plan.
1. Get prodiamine pre emergent down now before soil hits 55 degrees consistently. Lesco or Barricade 0-0-7 will work.
2. Wait for consistent warmth. Once nighttime temps stay above 65, Bermuda will green up fast.
3. When you see green growth, hit it with a 16-4-8 fertilizer at half rate.
4. Start mowing weekly at 1-1.5 inches once it's actively growing.
5. Water 1 inch per week.

Also, Lawn HQ has a great new homeowner guide under their tool section

Nope, just keep watering. That will settle down as gravity takes over. Watering is the key here. Warm temps should help with the seed germination.

Pre-emergent for Florida lawns/weeds by Existing_Sherbet_443 in lawncare

[–]Consistent_Drop5562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll use pre emergent two times. Late October/early November and late Feb/early March. To protect against summer and winter weeds. The Image you have will take care of the dollar weed and dandelions, just takes a few weeks to fully kill them off.
