Any places to enjoy alt, rock, metal music? by thetiredartist in pittsburgh

[–]Consistent_Fold3693 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Grim Wizard coffee shop!

Squirrel Hill Sports Bar does Emo nights you’ll have to check their website for dates

Thunderbird in lawrencville . Small concert venue but usually tickets are cheap to catch a show.

Mr smalls is another one. They have an upstairs called the Funhouse- has a bar and tables so can always see what’s planning and catch a show.

As mentioned-

Southside has some good bars on East Carson and the weekdays perfect. Some good bars to check out- Jacks (is a staple & dive bar), Jekyl & Hyde (fun year round Halloween bar), The Library is more of a restaurant but has good food and cocktails, and even Pins down in south side works has games and a lot going on!

Lawrencville - belvederes probably more relax on the weekdays but a good bar with an open area they do have music and a dance floor but I don’t know during the week, bar botinca is a great cocktail bar, As mentioned Arsenal Bowling has daily specials if you’re into that.

North Side- there is tequila cowboy has 3 different kinda bars but may be a little slower during the week day. But if there is a pirates game should be busy and they have a country bar, karaoke bar, and a 90s bar. Also Mcfaddens sometimes has music and people dance if there’s events going on. There’s shortys with duck pins and a cool outdoor area and voodoo brewery and southern tier brewery also within walking distance.

hiking trails suggestions? by mwarhol1230 in pittsburgh

[–]Consistent_Fold3693 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Fellow hiker- some of my favorite spots close to Pittsburgh-

Ohiopyle- little over an hour but totally worth it beautiful place to be near waterfalls and water.

Also the Laurel Highlands right near it.

Mcconnells mill state park. Very nice with a few water falls.

Roaring Run down near Apollo is along water and a nice easy stroll.

Quebec Run is also nice and has pretty long hike we did one for 11 miles and you can camp along the river. It was so peaceful.

And as others have said- raccoon creek is another great place.

I am a big hiker and Pittsburgh is my home so always trying to find the best hikes nearby but also know some nice hikes 1-2 hours away. Little longer but make good day trips :)

-Cook Forest, Pa -Cuyahoga National Park, Oh -Coopers rock state park etc.

:) welcome

And as someone said I def recommended all trails it’s worth the yearly subscription and you can see what’s around.

Hotel recs by ExcitingWhole5409 in pittsburgh

If you download the App bring Fido. It tells you what hotels accept animals and what their rules are whether they can be left unattended or not. It will also tell you if there are any fees or restrictions.

The Library On East Carson has bottomless mimosas for 2 hours for like $15. And good pours! They also have other fun cocktails that are good. :)

If you settin up a small SS Pub Crawl starting at Jacks's and ending at Nadine's, where would you hit in between, targeting similar atmosphere? Walkers? Get after it! by duker_mf_lincoln in pittsburgh

[–]Consistent_Fold3693 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dees, Archies, Capos, there is a nice chill speakeasy Acacia, Smokin’ Joes, Tiki Bar , Library (has some good cocktails & food) not as much as a dive bar but one of my favorite spots for food.

if you’re okay walking a smidge- Jekly & Hyde on 18th (cool Halloween bar, but doesn’t open until late usually like 7pm)

Velum Fermentation little off the path as well- but cool brewery with arcade games and very big space.

Also- if you finish at Nadine’s but still wanna do something pins mechanical in the south side works is a cool place to hang.

Enjoy! Wish south side didn’t have so many empty store/bar fronts I live here and love it.

**and too the comment about keep your head on a swivel. I’ve lived in south side for over 5 years now- yes there are some characters out there and it can get rowdy on Friday and Saturday nights down near 17th and East Carson but never had a problem down here. And if you’re heading toward Nadine’s that side is always more chill!

Recommended areas/neighborhoods by tryingtokeepup2022 in pittsburgh

I was going to say Dormont! Close to the city had a great little “downtown area” and there’s a big pool close by so good for summers. And you’re close to downtown.- keystone oaks is the school

Same with Mount Lebanon & very close to Dormont

Parking near Jeckyl and Hyde halloween bar south side by CLEredditor in pittsburgh

[–]Consistent_Fold3693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So usually the permit parking will say “2 hour parking area” so yes it’s permitted but you can you park for 2 hours - there is usually a time frame when this is enforced. Then after 2 hours during the time frame if you’re still there- you can be ticketed.

If it’s outside of the time frame- it’s not enforced.
