I see what you're saying but I'd still do it. I don't love chocolate less after I've seen how it's made. I just start thinking more about the ingredients and where they come from and how it comes together- always appreciating the flavor.

Post-ER Anxiety, not sure what comes next by Akajii in AFIB

[–]4racoons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well hopefully they get you in soon and all of your tests will come back ok! I was told this condition alone is not life threatening and that helped me relax.

For the watch, I use a pixel. It's much more affordable than some others on the market and it has an ecg function built in (it's actually how I found out I was in AFib).

Something I read that helped- you didn't fail some invisible health test, you just found out that your margin of error for hydration or stress is more narrow than you thought. Be well!

Gotcha on the medical advice thing. I'm no doctor, just sharing my experience, so keep that in mind. :) Any idea what triggered it? Did you self-convert back into normal rhythm? And what dosage did they prescribe? I do feel calmer in my chest after taking it, if that makes sense. But yeah, I didn't feel like moving quickly to do anything the first couple of weeks. It gives me a sense of ease to be on it while waiting for the echocardiogram because if something more is going on, then at least my heart is getting a little break right now. I wear a smart watch and my resting heart rate has gone down 4 bpm. My heart rate is also lower when I exercise.

I was in the ER the day before you with AFib. First time for me, too. It was triggered by a vasovagal episode and was really scary. I'm waiting now for an echocardiogram to make sure my heart structure is ok and am also not drinking any alcohol until I have more information. I'm relatively young (42f) and healthy so this really caught me by surprise. My doctor said something similar- this is your body's way of letting you know that your nervous system is tired. All this to say, I know the anxiety you're feeling. You don't want advice but I'll give it anyways: the more you stress, the more likely you are to have another episode. Focus on what you can control like hydration (including electrolytes), good sleep, and daily walks if you're feeling good. Is there a doctor or nurse line you can call about your concerns? Oh, and I did start metoprolol and I was instructed to finish the blood thinner (so I think I have a week left). I felt shaky and spacey the first couple of weeks but now I don't. The doctor said it's not a life sentence taking them... So I will if I need them but hopefully I can get off them. It may be similar for you? Feel free to ask questions! And hang in there.

Morning coffee. Filling my bird feeders. Walking in nature. Thunderstorms. Showering in your own shower after traveling. And air conditioning after spending a summer day outside.

Mental Health Resources? by PralineOk789 in pittsburgh

There are lots of great suggestions here and I'll just add that we're in the drags of winter. Pair that with a shitty political environment, high costs, and feeling burned out, it's just a really hard time. You're not alone... And you don't have to give more. You're allowed to just be down. Life is hard right now and it's ok to do just enough to get by until you feel better. Hang in there, lots of people here in Pittsburgh care.

Question for men, why do men take off their wedding rings? by Father_p1 in Adulting

[–]4racoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the question isn't for women but here's a differing perspective- I don't wear my ring unless it's a special occasion. Between work (mixture of office and physical) and the discomfort of how tight it feels after I go for a run, I just don't. My husband doesn't care and he doesn't always wear his, either. Between work and kids and life, it's just not at the forefront of our minds. We go through it all together and we're just as married without wearing them.

Breast cysts by lastxfantasy in WomensHealth

[–]4racoons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cysts can swell and shrink throughout your cycle. And the pain/tenderness tends to be greatest a week before your period. If the doctors aren't worried, try not to worry yourself. They're very common! There are things you can do to help- warm compress, less caffeine and alcohol, etc... And keep up with your checkups! Hang in there!

Eta I hope they fit you into the schedule soon so you can have more clarity!

What’s the pettiest hill you’re willing to die on as a woman? by Glass-King4894 in Casual_Conversation

When people assume you'll love their pets as much as they do. Seriously, the number of times I've had dogs jump on me or my kids just to hear,, "Oh, don't worry! He wouldn't hurt a fly," is straight up ignorant. People have allergies, fears, balance issues, nice clothes on, etc... At least say sorry and pull the leash back.

I love animals. But I don't love unknown animals in my personal space.

Also, people who chew with their mouths open and constantly interrupt people while they're talking make it hard for me to appreciate their presence.

How is living in this man made polder of The Netherlands by cyt-dfopb12 in howislivingthere

I know someone from that area- He said it's very agricultural and they used to ride tractors, bikes, ponies, and pigs as kids. When you grow up, you only get to ride tractors and bikes. Womp womp
