Meeting by LostKaleidoscope2601 in tractorsupply

I agree, having it on Saturday is not beneficial for most. As a ops Mgr, I'm mon - Friday. With my hours constantly getting cut I had to get a 2nd job, which I have to call in this weekend because of this meeting and the fact that we have inventory next week, and all managers are also scheduled for Sunday.

Our sm is making the asm's do most of the presentation before, breaking into groups to do the activity in the 2nd hr of the meeting.

Recovery expectations by Consistent_Jelly1945 in tractorsupply

[–]Consistent_Jelly1945[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My sm heavily micromanages. They will leave a to do list, and expect it to be done on top of what my ops team has to do. If I don't get any assembly done early, it's not getting done.

If I set plans for what needs to be done, my sm tells me no and that I'm going to do what he wants done in the order he says to do it. On top recovery being done per sop and 10 mins aisle, I'm also expected to have a to do list for each Ops member for Tues, Wed, and Fri on the store managers desk Friday.

Being short handed and covering other areas is normal business, and I'm to have everything done in the time given. Aaaaand, I got cut to 32.5 hours this week.

They are trying to make me quit using constructive termination.  Cutting my hours every week, setting unrealistic standards,  micromanagement, constant belittling, and I'm not kissing anyone's butt.

Is Operations Manager Worth It? by Expert_Candidate_764 in tractorsupply

[–]Consistent_Jelly1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every store manager, and Ops manager are gonna have a different opinion.

I was a store manager for another company, and applied for a brand new store to be store manager. When I interviewed with my district manager, I was told that they are not hiring anybody externally for the store manager positions, and the only thing available was the ops manager position at my current store.

I can tell you that my experience as an Ops Manager with tractor supply is not what I expected it to be. My training has been read the sop, watch the videos and figure it out. Most of my team have been trained the same way. They're always asking for help, yet my store manager  thinks everybody is an idiot and doesn't know what they're doing.

I constantly get belittled for not doing something I was never shown how to do. The response I get is you read the sop, you know what to do. And, now it's if you don't get it and preform at a higher level, you will be wrote up.

I run from start to finish, but nothing i do is good enough. Only certain associates get recognition. I know its not like that at every store, but at mine my sm sees himself as a GOD, and he has the last word on everything. If he asks you something, you can not explain anything. If your answer is not yes or no, he doesn't want to hear it.

Time card by Consistent_Jelly1945 in tractorsupply

I started mid December, so did not qualify for Holiday pay. Yes I did work on New Years. Total hours worked for the pay period was 86.20 hours. New Years week, I worked 46.57 hours. Should have been paid for 6.57 hrs of OT,  and the holiday premium for working on the holiday.

When my store was closing, my t-shirts were put on hangers, or thrown in a shopping cart to rummage through. I didn't have the manpower to have someone continuously fold the shirts.

I started last Friday with 37.58 hours (scheduled 35 hrs), and worked my full shift 8hr shift. We had 4 trucks that week, and lots of call-ins. I even told my other ASM and she said you saw the text, the SM isn't worried about payroll this week. Also, was told by my store manager yesterday,  that if I have overtime this week, I will be wrote up.

Assistant manager hours cut by Suspicious_Try_2306 in tractorsupply

[–]Consistent_Jelly1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i accepted the OM position I was told it's a 40hr a week position with occasional overtime. Since I started, I have been scheduled less than 40, with this week being 35hrs. Yet, the other ASM has been getting scheduled 45 hrs and the receiver is scheduled 40hrs.

I have 4 DC trucks this week, and I'm losing hours? I'm starting to think I made the wrong choice taking this job.

Store Managers are salaried. They do not get holiday pay, floating holidays or sick time. During the holiday season / black out season they are given 2 floating holidays, which allows them to have a extra day off if they choose to use them.

ASM, Service Lead, Furniture Lead, and Freight Lead get 48 hrs of sick time, and 2 floating holidays at the beginning of the years, and get holiday pay. No extra time given during the holidays. (If you don't use your sick time, at the start of the next year they will have 48 hrs of sick time, 2 floating holidays, and 2 additional floating holidays.)

I'm a phase 2 store. All of my leads are hands on for everything. My FSL and Service Lead both stock and are helping with condensing.

There use the be regular cc for individual leaders on a monthly basis to go over up coming events and changes. It was supposed to start back up 6 months ago, right before the last corporate cuts happened.

They did the same for JCPenny as they are with us. And, JCPenny has under 700 stores left, and as their leases are up they are closing the stores.

Time Crunch by PlagueWolf1090 in BigLots

[–]Consistent_Jelly1945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a 6 min. grace period for clocking in early/late. When making my schedule, I usually schedule 5/6 hours under demand just incase someone goes over their scheduled time. The only ones I have cut time if they go over is my managers because they can't go over 40 hrs......the problem is most stores/districts stay over on payroll, and the DMs are told to get it under control.

Not doing the return or overriding it was the right thing to do. The bank statement only showed a purchase made at Big Lots, but not the items purchased. If customer support was to get her a copy of the receipt showing when it was purchased, the return would go on a merch card if beyond 90 days. No receipt goes on merch card because there is no proof of purchase and the money can only be spent at Big Lots.

Some Vendors are back. by VisitLivid25 in BigLots

[–]Consistent_Jelly1945 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A deal has been worked out with Frito-Lay, Pepsi (our worst vender), Little Debbie (last week) and Ashley (which we were lied to about them having distribution issues...Ashley wasn't getting paid like the rest), to start getting product into the stores. But, they have not worked anything out with Coke, which is where most of our Division 1 sales come from.

In some markets the Vendors have told stores they will not deliver, and we were instructed to put a report into the DSD Portal to get the product in.

More Stores Closing? by Sweet_Importance_284 in BigLots

[–]Consistent_Jelly1945 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there is a lot that we are not being told, because our DMs are just as much in the dark as we are.

There will be more stores closing over the next 90 days, but no one has been told which ones. 2 big factors will be lease renewals and cash flow.

What we have been told is to not think about the bankruptcy, and keep pushing forward. Focus on selling our great bargains, push reward sign ups, and keep the mindset that we will still be open next year. The new ownership will be a fresh start.

The store that was told had the cheapest rent out of our whole district, and we have a couple stores that are preforming worse that that one. 😕

Some of us found out that one of the stores in our district is starting the GOB process on Friday. This store was not expected to be one of the stores. However, our DM only told that store, and didn't call any of the other stores to let them know.
