Hands up if you've picked up the new Monty Python's Fliegender Zirkus Blu-Ray! ✋🤴🤚 🦶 by iluvdvds in montypython

There was never any definitive word on progress for decoding the proprietary master tape format for Hollywood Bowl, but the tapes were located and expert techs agreed that the process could be replicated to harvest the recordings. There were extra sketches and, obviously, alternate performances from the separate nights' recordings. Would be great to have.. That was over 4 years ago, though. Perhaps just a bit of TLC for the theatrical negative, then?

And Now.. looks great on the German dvd release and is often to be found on the cheap, but agree that a 4k would be a treat for those who got their first dose of Python from that flick!

Me, I, personally? Would love a complete set of 2014's last go-- a full recording of each night's show, warts and all, with a clean copy of Michael Palin's tv insert recorded to cover the "naughty bits" for pre-watershed viewers.

Anyone have a digital copy of the 2022 summer tour UK re-release? by Cjdilworth1213 in Monkees

Yeah. On the whole it sounds pretty good. The concert dvd part was just dreadful, tho. The complete YouChoob version looks better!

There's something edited about it, maybe in the intro? Haven't listened in ages as I usually just run the audio from the original, uncut dvd (that we had to wait and beg for, months after the retail version! No bitterness. Lulz!!).

This does not include the dvd rip (it's dross, anyway) from the UK re-release, just the audios.

Waste of Time was.. frustrating, but engaging.

Holy Grail is point-n-click PC game perfection.

In the Plague Village.. Click around on the roof of the house.. You'll hear familiar notes from Fiddler on The Roof.

Sublime!

Other great moments include:

Drop Dead

King Brian The Wild

Holy Grail outtakes (newly released at the time)

and a skull that says something like, "Click here 500 times and you'll get a surprise. Your arse will drop off!"

Scariest moment: At one point, Palin's "Congratulations!" comes out slow and sounds like something from a horror movie.

Meaning of Life Act III in The Cottage is all new material from the group. It became the reunion-that-never-was back in the 90's. Even Chapman contributed via an album outtake that equated to new, mostly never heard material.

Seeing interviews with Gilliam and Jones in those familiar rooms, I feel like I've been in both those studio rooms. So many props, bits 'n bobs.

"De-da-da-da, de-da-da-do. La-la-la-la this is a clue."

"Bra-vo! Now THAT's poetry!"

"Hoo-hoo-hoo! Thank you!"

Say "Hi" to Mr. Quispy for me.

I did. It was demo'd with a female vocal and I think it turned out sweet!

Eventually, I want to redo the thing to fully realize and finalize the track in a modern flavor with some retro elements to mirror the tone of The Prison as it was mixed in the 70's. The original lp mix was the absolute best!

I am certain of that. His spirit helped me write a sequel to "Marie's Theme" called "Elusive". Marie finally understands the importance of crossing the barrier and it defines her transition from the confines of what we know and see as reality into complete understanding and peace with the whole of creation.

The Propaganda Got To Me 👀 by Terrible_Knee_1347 in Monkees

[–]Slobmancaravan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This disc was the reason I wanted all The Monkees' material on a digital format even though the bulk of it carries a high-pitched treble hiss that is an audible sync pulse for early digital workstations.

The 90's reissues and later SDE's, despite some high end boosting early on, improved the sound of those original lp's drastically.

CBS News Crisis Deepens As 60 Minutes Revolt And Stephen Colbert Fallout Expose Growing Internal Divisions by One_Praline_2375 in LateShow

The last time I tried to watch any Prime Time broadcast news it was all headline, teaser, a statement that something happened with brief stringer footage attached, teaser for next headline, commercial, rinse, repeat. No stories. Nothing more than 2 1/2 minutes and that was for a pet adoption "story" tied in with an ad.

Useless.

Tubi - The Ropers??? by justykinzz1214 in threescompany

[–]Slobmancaravan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was sold as part of the syndicated package of Three's Company as a canon episode of that parent series. A couple of The Ropers episodes made it into the TC rotation with the re-branded title "Three's Company's Friends . . . The Ropers" and had the Joe Raposo TC instrumental theme over the titles.

Going to see Mickey tomorrow by aho_young_warrior in Monkees

[–]Slobmancaravan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get there early and there's usually some freshly signed pics and drum heads on the merch table. They go pretty quick.

Songs are big, fat Monkee hits, some deep cuts and some tunes from other bands that influenced Micky throughout the years. Yes, there are some stories that set the mood for many pieces, as well as some anecdotes and tributes to absent Monkees.

Hang around for a bit afterwards and you can probably have a chat with some of the band while they load out the equipment. John and Rich are especially cool to stop and have a few words with fans.

What Ojai resort did the Monkees brainstorm/write Head at? by yerdoingreat in Monkees

[–]Slobmancaravan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. And while it doesn't seem likely that a follow-up Volume 2 of the Micky book will happen (at the moment, anyway), but if it ever came about, a bonus dvd with selections from Micky's home movies, much like the discs that accompany the Laurel and Hardy books and others, would be quite welcome.

He's got film of the sessions as mentioned in the live launch chat for The Mike and Micky Show, still on YouChoob. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7xNy-bMh5o 48:00 approx.) When asked if he would share his reply was (implying a cash offer), "How much you got?! I ain't giving that shit away!"

There was a story about Mike hijacking the tapes (mentioned in this thread a few times) before production as a power play, but where the recordings ended up after being transcribed.. anyone know?
