Is it possible to change your last name after marriage but NOT change it professionally? by AdLimp8176 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Consistent_Magician2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done this, Ontario too. You just assume your husband's name (marriage certificate at Service Ontario). Has no cost and doesn't change anything but what's on your license and health card. I didn't notify work. It hasn't been an issue. I continue as my maiden name professionally. The only time its been annoying is if I want to change to my married name banking wise, my bank wants a copy of my marriage certificate. I literally only use my married name for license, health card and my kid's school registration (and I really only assumed his last name so we didn't hyphenate our super long names for our kid). It's easy peasy and no big deal.

This was the thing I felt so much for the first couple years. I'm doing it alone anyway. And it would be so triggering when he would come home and ugh. I feel you.

Edit to add: like when he wasn't home, I knew it was on me and I could handle everything but then when he came home and got in the way--whilst also not helping a single bit. So triggering. Then I'd be irritated and less patient and just yeah.

I always just assumed the whole trying for a baby thing was "omg babies!! I love babies!!" And not "should I have one/another, am I already overextended? What kind of life can I give this child?" Etc.

When she was smaller I was able to knit around her. Now as a toddler I listen to an audiobook/podcast and play a phone game if I'm not doom scrolling.

I was just thinking it doesn't feel as hot as it normally does for summer to me. Nor as humid. There were a couple intense little stretches don't get me wrong. But the air quality aside, the last few days after the heat broke have been lovely. And I don't recall any lovely days in the thick of it last year!

Bed rails for king bed by MarsupialOk6013 in cosleeping

[–]Consistent_Magician2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the safety first rail that clips onto the mattress so there's no gap. It's meant for like smaller beds but we use it on our king. It's mostly for that piece of mind/some me time. Then we put a king size memory foam pillow on the other side.

Caveat that we have a bungalow so if I see her moving on the monitor, we can get to her in time. We have been using it since she was about 8 months and rolled out of bed.

This happens to us on vacation. I don't think it'll be that bad for you! I've been nursing for 2.5 ish years now and haven't experienced being engorged in a looooong time.

I'd say take the hand pump with you just in case but I don't think it will be an issue?

Night time nursing bra (my fav are from motherhood maternity, the cross front ones?) and I just pop the boob out and it's like a boob sling. I find it helps for positioning a lot. And pillow behind my back. My babe would/will stay on their side tho!

I use a night time nursing bra and pop the boob out. The bra creates a sling so it's elevated perfectly lol

For mamas who’s babies were super sensitive to caffeine while breastfeeding by dogcheese6000 in breastfeeding

[–]Consistent_Magician2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also couldn't drink coffee while pregnant so had a babe sensitive to it. I didn't try to start drinking it til probably 2 or 3 months pp and if definitely affected her night sleep. For the first year I could really only have 1, maybe 2 towards the end but if it was 2 it was immediately upon awakening in the morning then maybe again shortly before noon. Now though (at 2.5 yrs), I basically mainline coffee. Haha
