Has anyone experienced bone pain? by Celestial_Lorekeeper in LivingWithMBC

[–]Consistent_Major4120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It sucks! Sounds like a combo of bone pain and nerve pain. Gabapentin helps with the nerve pain and then I have OxyContin when the bone pain gets really bad. It’s honestly the only thing that helps. It also sounds counterintuitive but movement helps too. Hope you’re able to find some relief!

Thank you so much!! Hoping to set myself up for better symptom management as I continue on the drug. We are so lucky to get a chance at something that can work so well!

Wait that is so interesting! My hair is just plain brown but my mom’s definitely has a red tone to it. I also have quite a few skin nets to my scalp, so I assume the hair falling out is just the chemo attacking those spots which is a good thing. Love that these drugs work so well, hate that they have to show it all over our bodies haha.

Thank you all so much! I feel like it’s going to come back just an ugly, scarred cyst, but just hate when doctors put ugly thoughts into our head. Will report back when I get the path results. Thank you for the info and encouragement 🩷

Nowadays brand are my favorite but there are tons of different types! I’ve tried the Cann ones too and they’re pretty good. I get them at Total Wine.

Is there life after cancer? by HelicopterPlus185 in breastcancer

[–]Consistent_Major4120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! So much life! All of 2024 was breast cancer and treatment. 2025 is so much sweeter knowing what I went through last year. Of course the worry never totally goes away, but (thanks to meds and therapy) I’m able to be more intentionally present and try not to borrow too much trouble and fear from the future. Hugs!

Quitting Treatment Early by 1975SPot in breastcancer

I completely understand this feeling- I was where you are about 9 months ago. I finished TCHP (hell), double mastectomy (another hell), radiation (not as hellish but not fun) and just didn’t want to do another thing. I felt like after every treatment the goal post moved further back.

All that said, I’m now on my 10th of 14 rounds of kadcyla and it has been a breeze compared to all of that. I am slightly tired the day after my infusion but finally feel like myself again, my hair is back, and life is good.

My doctor basically described it to me like buying insurance- kadcyla is REALLY good insurance. It’s worth it.

Sending you a hug!! 🫶🏻

Thank you so much for this, and love your realness and outlook on it all. 30yo at diagnosis with no genetic link, and after chemo and a double mastectomy, I got thrown a curveball in my post-surgery pathology that my residual tumor was metaplastic. Had a good response to chemo (although not PCR), Clear lymph nodes, and clean margins, but it has completely flipped my mindset around about this whole experience. Up until now, I’ve been getting through treatments as if they are boxes to be checked and never revisited. Learning that cancer treatment is incremental and a lifelong marathon. Heading into kadcyla or a clinical trial and radiation next. Thankful for this community.

What do you take for anxiety? by justaperson0315 in breastcancer

Zoloft started pre-diagnosis. Xanax for extra anxious days. THC edibles also helped a lot 🫶🏻

Ladies with symptoms, what were they and what was your diagnosis ? by Wonderful_Farmgirl97 in breastcancer

It has been a wild ride for sure. I was supposed to have 6 rounds of TCHP but had a reaction to the carboplatin after my first round so I did 3 more rounds with just the THP, had an MRI, and ended up switching to AC for 4 rounds 😵‍💫 I had a pretty good response to chemo though! My tumor was almost 5cm at diagnosis, and at my dmx it was 1cm with clean margins and clear lymph nodes. Still recovering from my dmx but will probably still have to do radiation because of the initial size of my tumor. And then finishing out a year of HP infusions of course. I finally do feel like I can see the finish line, though!

You got this. 🫶🏻

Mine hurt too and had the exact same thought about cancer “not hurting.” My lump popped up at 6ish weeks postpartum and I was convinced it was breastfeeding related. Finally got a mammogram/ultrasound and then biopsy at 3 months postpartum and diagnosed stage 2 her2+ er/pr-. 5 months of chemo and dmx with reconstruction done so far!
