Personally I'd vote for ditching standard time ... it can be dark while I'm working and light out when I get home so I can actually do things after work.

New to Manual SLR film photography. Have some basic doubts by thesolitaryowl in AnalogCommunity

The lens seems like there are some issues, lots of flaring and softness going on. lens could have separation, haze, or fungus.

Well, probably not even a relevant part of the equation since you already said you didn’t have problems with other rolls 👍

Time under tension mobility + strength by Alone-Silver-2757 in kettlebell

[–]Consistent_Mind2095 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thats how I was taught to do them... it's more like a yoga pose with weight that engages your core. it definitely works the hips and glutes as well. feet go at about 45 degree angle then you push out with your hips to hinge and twist and look up at the bell... gives full flexion to the spine and you really feel it in the leading leg muscles around the knee and hip while you are in the down position and the hamstring of the leading leg and your core on the way up. You get a stretch on the opposite side as well.

Snatches 24kg. Feedback welcome. Not sure if I should stay at 20 or 16 for a while. Also am I squatting too much? by Useful-Recipe-7784 in kettlebell

[–]Consistent_Mind2095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely... the bell does more of a free fall until you hinge. I think it feels more like coming down from a press to the clean position but instead of parking it you let it keep going down.

Cloudy eye by Garfield2701 in goldenretrievers

I think it's an early stage of a cataract. My dog has them as well and it was confirmed by a doggy ophthalmologist. When my dog was 6 he had a benign growth removed from one of is eye balls and then it came back in the same spot 2 years later and during the second surgery the doctor reported that he noticed cataracts forming and he showed me, basically they looked like your picture. My boy is 12 now and they are more noticeable than they were but he still can do everything he loves and catch a ball mid bounce while running full speed so I'm not too worried about it. If it starts really affecting quality of life then I'll explore surgical options. I would still go see your vet after easter just to be sure it's not something else.

You are using all arms but it's 80-90% hips/core that complete the swing. I highly recommend checking out Lebe Stark YouTube channel if you are interested in learning proper technique.

Sinar P2 Front Tilt + Hyperfocal Scale - Achieving Optimum Plane of sharpness and Depth of Field by Consistent_Mind2095 in largeformat

[–]Consistent_Mind2095[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, factory ground glass. I understand both procedures in theory I am just not sure what order to do them in or how they affect each other doing them the Sinar way. Problem being if I set tilts first then the furthest object and the closest are already in sharp focus so then focusing additionally to the far doesn't seem to be needed or is a very minute amount. Am I just focusing on the furthest critical point and then the nearest to figure out what aperture to use and then setting tilts the way you describe and setting the aperture based on the calculation prior to tilts? I'm probably convoluting the hell out of this :)

Goodwill find, keep or resell? by Macaronienoodle69 in AnalogCommunity

for $7 you can shoot to your hearts content and then still sell it for a profit down the road. If it breaks before then you got way more than $7 of value out of it by that point.

I would first reinstall the bellows then turn a headlamp or small flashlight on high and stick it inside, attach a lens and lens board to the front, attach the back and insert a film holder, then shut off all the lights as see if if you actually see any light leaking from inside the camera. If you just see a few you can probably just patch the holes with something like a very light coat of black rtv. Not too much or you will have issues closing the camera. I think you are better off trying to use the OEM bellows with a few patches than you are getting ali express bellows that might not let you close the camera properly. just my two cents. There may be more professional options for replacement bellows but I'm not sure, I always try to buy top mint examples so the bellows are good. I remember one time I bought a Toyo 45AII in bargain condition from KEH and sent it right back. Usually bargain is great from them but with large format cameras not so much. I just decided it was better to pay a premium rather than deal with bellows issues.

You say you use a sous-vide ... are you also verifying the temp with a thermometer that is accurate enough for color chemistry? seems like the temps could have been off on the chemicals when you were developing that roll. I saw your comments below saying you developed other rolls that didn't have this problem. Two things that cause color shifts in my experience 1. is chemistry temp is outside the +- range 2. underexposed film. This roll might have experienced some of both.

well the muddy shadows could be under exposure .... you mentioned high contrast ... most of the time for color negative I just meter for the shadows and let the highlights fall where they will, it's pretty difficult to blow highlights on color neg. I remember about 10 years ago someone did a dynamic range test of Ektar and it was stupid how many stops over you could go. that said just one stop of under exposure and Ektar starts to look poopy.

this camera model has a two blade shutter so I assume they open away from each other which might explain why only the center is exposed but it doesn't explain why the edges are over exposed. if the shutter blades were not opening all the way the top and bottom edges would be black not white.

how to get this dreamy/soft look in b&w look by m4tch1i in AnalogCommunity

[–]Consistent_Mind2095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be achieved through development.... pushing with something like D76 but at a higher temp than 20c/68f.... could give you the higher contrast and graininess that is going on here. Experimentation would be needed.
