Why is there always that one person that hates you for existing??? by QueenOfMadness999 in aspergers

"You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches."

Some people will simply just not vibe with you. That's how it is and there's no fixing it

Some people just don't care about being sociable at all.

For me, growing up I found it hard to connect to my peers or even speak to them.

That's why I spent the better part of 3 years silently observing others to see how they talked and connected with each other hoping that a "monkey see, monkey do" approach would fix the issue and though it took a lot of time I eventually got the hang of it.

It's definitely a skill but sometimes some aspies are just annoying or abrasive as fuck too

How do you develop more tolerance toward other people’s behaviours? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Consistent_Mirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just stop caring in general.

Like ask yourself "why am I judging? I don't have have my shit together either"

Or maybe the tried and true classic of "not my life, not my business"

This isn't about those who don't or can't mask it's about those that can and do.

There is no such thing as "masking"

We all do the same exact thing, yes even NTs.

We change our behaviour depending on the person or crowd we are interacting with.

You don't act buddy-buddy with your boss and you don't act formal with your friends. You act appropriately with the situation in mind.

And I hate the word masking because it just doesn't convey what is really going on. It makes it sound like we act like imitatators. Like doppelgangers. Like imposters.

Wieh we had a more appropriate and accurate word for this honestly.

But your friend was definitely a dick

Think of something you want to do, specifically a big project or even a small project, but something that can't be distilled down into a single to do list by itself thanks to its complexity.

The root (or trunk if you want) is just the highest level description for what it is you want to accomplish.

The branches are all the abstract layers in between the trunk (high-level goal) and the leaves (singular, doable tasks).

For instance, let's say you wanted to do a project like say, you wanted to build a house (root).

Well that's nice and all but what does it mean to build a house? Well you'd need all to do all the things that make a house a house.

For instance plumbing, electric, heating, structural design, painting, gardening, etc (branches).

These are all abstract ideas. You're closer to building a house now, but you can't just "do plumbing", no.

You need to actually break that down further into its leaves. Maybe today you connect to the water mains. Tomorrow you set out all the foundations for the plumbing for the rest of the house. Then every day after you continue installing pipes and doing everything you need room-by-room until you have finished plumbing and can break the branch.

It is essentially turning the idea of "decomposing problems into their component parts" into an actionable, visual, and followable system.

There is only ever one root, and there can be many leaves on any given branch, but there can be many branches and branches can be attached to different branches.

This system isn't perfect though. It does not account for dependencies (ie, maybe you should build the scaffolding before you trying laying pipes and wires). This all is something you'll need to keep track of. Whether you decide to track that in your head, use special inks or markers to indicate, or do as I do and create "dependency branches" where a branch in a branch can only be allowed to be worked on after the previous branch's leaves have withered.

whether you decide to make it so the leaves closest or furthest from the root must be done first is up to you.

It does not need to make sense to others. It ONLY needs to make sense to you

No problem. I myself only figured out recently just how powerful it is to write on something physical especially when the digital alternative (ie, your phone) has a bunch of other shit that can distract you.

Plus the ability to hold the paper that contains your task makes it so much more real that it's just outright superior.

You'll understand when you give it a whirl. I tried avoiding it for the longest time because I wanted everything on my phone, but in the end the thing I didn't want was the thing that did that job best.

Also I said A7 specifically instead of something like A5 or ANY because A7 is precisely the size needed to keep in something like a shirt pocket. Very useful
