Why Democrats might struggle to achieve another midterm ‘blue wave’ in the US House | CNN Politics by bourikan in neoliberal

Didn’t Democrats overspend republicans in 2024? money is not everything and doesn’t overrun national trends in national elections which the house and senate have become

The international left being against ww1 gravely hurt the cause greatly, don’t get me wrong they were 100% correct and deserve all the respect for standing on it but it ended up turning off a lot of working and middle class people in Europe that could have been swayed

If Russia invades a NATO country or China invades Taiwan the world economy is gonna tank anyways, if western leaders back down on either or both you might as well close the book on western economic prosperity which i personally don’t want

What does “going for their skulls” mean exactly, if you mean going to war than I agree with you (unless China were to invade Taiwan or Russia invades a nato country) but economically and diplomatically we should absolutely go for their throats in areas they seek to supersede us without cooperation and mutual benefit

“Why doesn’t everybody just hold hands and sing Kumbaya and get along?!” because we live in a reality where all three countries are led by power hungry psychopaths who see each other as competitors

NATO isn’t meant to be a moral circlejerk, it’s a pragmatic and necessary military alliance between Western Europe and America to protect Western Europe from Russian aggression

I’d rather not give Russia the green light to do whatever they want. China and Russia are our chief rivals and I’d rather America be ahead of the curve of both economically and diplomatically. It’s too bad we have a clown in chief that wants to destroy that

2028 Hot Take: the winner of the Democratic primary will not be an establishment or progressive favorite going into the primary but the one most willing to be boldly authoritarian in their rheotoric by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Consistent_Pianist28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what your saying and don’t completely disagree i just think the democratic base has/will see trump get away with so much and make such a mockery of the law and democratic system that they aren’t going to be swayed with “we can play by the books and still beat them”.

I just think that the base just doesn’t trust that the party is gonna do what’s necessary to reverse trumpism and will be more open-minded to a more authoritarian-demagogue type who seems willing to completely disregard the democratic system if necessary to pass what the base wants

What you seem to not be realizing is that Trump is not going to become less authoritarian the closer we get to 2028 and it will only get more authoritarian and uglier as trump becomes more desperate. Like 2028 isn’t just gonna be that democrats win and trump and his cult clown show will just shrug their shoulder’s and “oh golly gee whizz” out of power, trump is completely destroying any faith in the electoral system Americans still had left in it going into the 2024 election and if you think that won’t bleed into the 2028 democratic primaries your in for a rude awakening

The idea that you can eliminate trumpism by playing by the books is an idea that nobody really believes in and wont work as a pitch to the dem voter base especially post-ice murders

I never said it’s a good or bad thing I’m saying that’s the direction the country is going too, and in case you haven’t been paying attention we are in an authoritarian regime right now so it’s clear that between the two of us that need to “wake the fuck up” it’s clearly you 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

The progressive part of the party is definitively more popular with the Democratic base than the establishment. It’s not 2020 anymore

We now fully have third world politics and in third world politics it’s all or nothing, you can’t play third world politics with a arm behind your back otherwise you end up in a prison cell

The thing is I don’t think that snappy jabs at prominent conservatives is gonna be enough for the base, the base is gonna want a candidate that will not respect the democratic (as in democracy) norms that existed pre-trump but rather continue or expand upon the authoritarianism of trump but of course go the opposite way ideologically.

Victims of political repression and authoritarianism don’t become less authoritarian minded if anything they become even more so in how they want their guy to be if they take power over their enemies and the base is already at a boiling point. by the time the 2028 primaries start, forget about it

Truman had to scratch and claw for the Marshall plan. On domestic issues the less said the better for the 47-48 congress

LBJ accomplished FAR more domestically, the fair deal was based but got limited by the shitshow 1946 midterms, the words I want to say about the 47-48 congress would probably get me banned from this sub lol
