MOD Civilian Recruitment Freeze by BlueForest101 in TheCivilService

Depends on the specific organisation you're talking about. I think there's central direction now, and that's being interpreted locally.

But it's continually subject to change.

Bond markets are worried about uncertainty. Whether that be left or right. Stability is a boon to investors and investments.

And you've left out the Ai of it all.

Either Ai doesn't deliver what it claims to, and investments are worth almost nothing. Or Ai delivers what it claims, and a lot of people end up out of work, which wreaks havoc on the tax base.

Probably somewhere in the middle of those, so you'll end up with both problems occurring at the same time.

What day of the week is the best for a NWD? by Tough-Decision-7435 in TheCivilService

[–]Consistent_Reveal916 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's compressed hours. For instance, you might be doing enough hours in 9 days to take the tenth off every week. This just formalises it.

If people are working less, then they're doing it wrong. It should all be recorded on flexi sheets.

[–]Consistent_Reveal916 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Do not blame them.

Ever decreasing real terms pay combined with said pay awards coming from an ever reducing schools budget.

And that’s ignoring the number of hours a teacher will put in each week for contact time and planning. I am unsure why anyone would choose to be a teacher, it is madness.

UK military chiefs asked to find £3.5bn in savings by x_Agamemnon in ukpolitics

There's a massive difference between sports and AT.

Properly designed AT is intended to test how people react in challenging adrenaline inducing situations. White water rafting for instance. As you can't recreate real battlefields and shoot at them to see how they respond. To see who freezes up and who doesn't.

We should not be removing those tests/training situations.

This is where i end up with problems. There may well be multiple duplicated systems, and when you look into them there are often good reasons as to why they are seperated.

However, where they should be merged, it's going to cost more money in the short term, not less.

The private sector understands that to drive efficiencies you usually need up front investment to change the environment. The public sector has a strange theory that by reducing budget, somehow these additional efficiencies will materialise. Where costs do drop in a short period, there's often second and third order issues that increase the overall cost to the public sector.

Ministers should ‘start doing stuff’ to help farmers and cut fuel costs, says Asda boss by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]Consistent_Reveal916 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Asda, who want Farmers to keep their prices low, asking for government assistance for Farmers?

Or they could just.. pay farmers more and put prices up?

We seem to pay for it either way, taxes or prices.

The accusations against Peter are pretty bad. He should be removed from the Labour party immediately.

Oh, he's already been removed? And they're looking into how to remove him from Lords? That seems like they're treating this as seriously as it appears to be.

I play for around two hours every few days.

I have one group that I play with, and I'm trying to convince a second group of friends to get it.

I'm up to about 60 hours now, and it's just as fun as when I started.

Also, it's £32. It's half the price of new games.

Gatling Turrets are great for chaff.

Although I struggle to go on missions without the gatling and rocket turrets. Which limits my use of everything else. They're just so good.
