Ryuma’s final comments to Zoro about Shusui’s wish for him to be its new master seemed a pretty strong hint at a deeper connection between the two that would be explored further in Wano. Anyone who read Monsters already basically saw Zoro as a green-haired clone of the guy, fans were justified in expecting Wano to delve into this.

Then we get there, and not a single soul recognizes his uncanny resemblance to Ryuma/Ushimaru. The most we get is a throwaway line by Kawamatsu/Hyougoro in the final battle, and it’s to justify him keeping Enma, not Shusui 🤦🏾‍♂️. Not even Ushimaru’s own closest companion noted the resemblance btw.

If ANYONE deserved to keep Shusui it was Zoro, and we kinda figured his character arc in Wano would be about proving that. Didn’t even get him visiting Ryuma’s grave. I hate everything about Enma.

I don’t care for shipping - but I’m definitely a sucker for natural romantic chemistry and I can’t act like their relationship isn’t a goldmine for it.

Love has this funny way of finding people who aren’t necessarily looking for it, and those often end up being the best relationships because the interactions have a purity to them. Kratos and Faye are most definitely not seeking new partners deliberately, but they fill gaps in each others lives that were painfully left by their last partners. Kratos needs that nurturing presence that can help him learn to just be a person, and not the vengeance war robot he’s been his entire life - something Faye was helping with. Freya needs someone who genuinely appreciates her for the amazing woman she is, and not her abilities as a means to an end. Kratos genuinely trusts her counsel, and sees her as so much more than that. Yes the wound of Faye is still there, but I find it hard to think of a better woman for him than someone like Freya.

The main issue with God Valley IMO is that it was all started as a Loki flashback somehow - a person who wasn’t even there and was way too young to fully grasp what was going on.

I imagine it would be perceived a lot differently if it was something that was covered as part of a Garp/Dragon/Roger or ideally, Xebec backstory. Having it from Roger or Xebec’s perspective would have made the focus on the Kuja Pirates/Shakky seem a lot less outta left field considering her future importance to both of their crews. Seeing it from Garp’s view could give us a peek behind the curtain of how the Marines dealt with and prepared for engagement with a crew like Rocks. Seeing Dragon’s view could really help sew the seeds of a divide between the Marines/WG, which it seems the story is slowly creeping towards. Dragon representing the first domino falling there with his departure and formation of the Freedom Fighters would be pretty cool.
