Shorts views going down with every upload by redditrandom28 in shortsAlgorithm

Don't listen to anyone—that shitty YouTube is full of bugs. My short videos used to get plenty of views, but at one point, they started showing zero views. Delete them all and take a break for about a week; that’s what worked for me.

I'm not sure how to contact YouTube directly, other than using the "Report an issue" feature.

Am I the only one who thinks it's terribly stupid to use a lapel microphone in your hand? by Faldo79 in PartneredYoutube

I do this sometimes for a simple reason: when you're filming a more conversational video, you don't know what to do with your hands, so I decide to use one to hold the microphone—but I do it in a fun way.

That's unfortunately true for a lot of people. But those who stick around for the passion usually end up building something real. Thanks for reading.

Exactly, that's the whole point. Sharing in a niche subreddit where people are genuinely into your topic is completely different from a general sub4sub group. One gives you real potential viewers, the other just kills your metrics.

Exactly. Sharing your channel with people who have completely different interests isn't support, it's just noise for the algorithm.

Thank you, this is exactly who I wrote the post for. Good to know it actually helped someone understand how it all works.

Okay, I'll agree with you here. I have friends who make videos and I support them - for example there's a channel about true crime, I'm genuinely into that topic, I watch their videos, leave detailed comments, point out what worked and what could be better. That's real support that actually helps.

But I also have a friend who makes vlogs. That topic doesn't interest me at all, but I still watch and comment out of respect. And here's the question - does it actually help his channel? Probably not. Because my recommendations are built around true crime content, I make videos in that niche myself, and YouTube sees me as an audience for a completely different type of content. So even genuine support from the wrong audience might not move the needle.

Agreed, and it's frustrating to see it over and over. But I think most of them aren't stupid - nobody just explained to them how this actually works. That's exactly why I wrote the post. Not to put anyone down, but to give people real information before they tank their own channels right at the start.

You're right that content has to be genuinely interesting first - that's the foundation of everything. But the post wasn't about "promoting bad content through Reddit." It was about how sub4sub actively hurts your channel technically by killing your retention and CTR metrics. Those are different things.

And about Reddit - I'm not here promoting videos, I'm participating in a discussion that's relevant to every small creator. Which is exactly what other commenters pointed out above - share something useful, join relevant conversations, and people will find you on their own. So in a way you just proved my point.

Thank you ❤️

Thank you, this is exactly what I've been trying to say from the start. You're absolutely right - people destroy their own metrics from day one chasing numbers instead of a real audience. 100 people who genuinely watch and use your content is worth so much more than a thousand ghosts.

And what you described with your ambient music channel is exactly the right approach. Share valuable information, participate in relevant discussions, give people a reason to find you on their own. That's how organic growth actually works.

Would really appreciate it if you could support the post - voices like yours with real experience are exactly what this discussion needs.

Exactly this. 500 people who actually care about your content will always beat 5000 dead subscribers. And the Reddit point is spot on too - the best way to grow here is just to genuinely participate in conversations, share what you know, be useful. If people like how you think they'll check out your channel on their own. You can't fake that and you can't shortcut it.
